My guess is that one or more of the following apply:

a. Uninsured

b. Untaxed

c. MoT expired

d. Broken down and beyond economic repair

e. Stolen

I'm not sure if his words signify panache or just weary resignation.

Fuck. Look at the thing.

It looks like sadness and regret writ in plastic and sheet metal.

Or maybe it still worked but he couldn't afford the release fee. Yes you're right it could be weary resignation.

But surely it's more than just weary resignation. The guy went to the trouble of buying a permanent maker pen and then actually writing that message on his car. If it were just weary resignation he would have just left it and forgotten about it without going to the trouble of writing on it. I think it's actually defiance.

Yes, you're probably right. A last spark of defiance.
Weary resignation can wait. :)

Yes it could have been. I thought from the aggression in it it was more likely to be a bloke, but yes it could have been a girl.

could have been...... well anyone, really. I'm amused/suspicious the handwriting is so need/legible. I always carry a Sharpie or two. This does inspire me......
