Dec 26th, 2017: Everybody Poops

A biological fact, everybody poops.
Except political prisoners and those starving kids in Africa my mother told me about when I didn’t want to eat something.
But the people in Catalonia region of Spain/France, since the 17th century, feel it must be celebrated at Christmas.
During Christmas, a large model of the city of Bethlehem is created along with the typical nativity scene with Mary, Joseph, Jesus and the Shepherds. But tucked away in a corner of the model is a little figurine of a defecating Catalan peasant. Originally, the Caganer was portrayed as a Catalan peasant wearing red stocking hat with a black band, but modern Caganers are often caricatures of famous people.

It’s widely believed that the Caganer, by pooping, is fertilizing the Earth and thus promising a good harvest during the forthcoming year. Hence, it is a good omen. Another explanation is that the Caganer represents the equality of all people: regardless of status, race, or gender, everyone defecates.

Famous people to the Catalans (Catalonians?) includes not only political and entertainment stars, but popular sports figures from Spain.

It's a well known fact that HM Queen never goes to the lavatory nor does she ever carry money.

There may be a connection of some sort here.:)

I'd like to think she had a good laugh when she saw that.

Her Maj is reputed to have a sense of humour, but I have to say that she never gives the impression that uncontrollable mirth is imminent. ;)

What's she doing, showing how much better royal teeth are than the peasants?

We are still not amused.[/CENTER]

In fairness she probably had half a dozen investitures, three Ambassadorial receptions and a ribbon cutting ceremony at a new municipal sewage works to look forward to that week.

She fascinates me because she looks like she could be my mothers little sister as my mother was born today in 1919 and the Queen in 1926. Always had the same hairstyle over the years and mannerisms I've seen in the media were strikingly similar.

I've always thought that, at the time of her Coronation, she must have been one of the most beautiful women in England.
