Reuse, repurpose, or recycle, is the mantra of the cool people.
Containers made of made of polyethylene terephthalate (PET or PETE), don’t get reused, Coke doesn’t want them back.
Most places have recycling programs to send them to be shredded and melted for new containers.
You can repurpose them for other things, although they don’t make good Molotov Cocktails.
Veronika Richterová repurposes PET containers into art pieces.

When I found out by chance, that plastic bottles could be deformed by heat I decided to create a sculpture from this material. Immediately, I had the idea that it could be called PET-art however, I took it only as one of my visual experimentations. I didn’t anticipate that plastic bottles would become such an obsession for me for many years. Since 2004 I have used thousands of bottles and have created hundreds of objects. In doing this work, I have developed many specific methods of technological processing.

She also make Penguins, Bats, Crocodiles, Butterflies, and critters.

Go for it Sandy, some gentle heat and manual working or compressed air should be fun. Be sure and let us know how it worked out. :D

Uh, that first pic (the cat) is hideous, and distressing.

Don't worry about the cat, it was long dead when photographed.

That's what distresses me. I like cats. I like them a lot more when they're alive.
