Aug 12th, 2017: Boeing Selfie

It's common knowledge that birds can fly, bats can fly, insects can fly, people can not fly. :headshake
So it's simple logic anyone working in the industry is crazy. Well not all, some are just eccentric, or strange. Believe me,
I worked with them for 25 years.
Any new design must go through extensive testing to be certified by the government, and show the customers, the plane is safe.
They were scheduled to do an 18 hour endurance flight with a 787 Dreamliner not yet equipped with in flight movies.
The engineers were left to entertain themselves, so they did what engineers do, just with a $300 million crayon.

According to Boeing, the plane crossed over 22 states to draw the design. From wingtip to metaphorical wingtip, the plane stretches from nearly the bottom tip of Texas up to the Great Lakes, and the flight path even included such small details as the curvature of the engines and the tilted fins on the ends of the wings. The design was specifically the outline of a 787-8.
Uncoincidentally, the flight path was covered by a 787 Dreamliner that was running an 18 hour endurance test on the craft, eventually flying 9,896 miles. Even in the world of aeronautics, you’ve gotta have some fun.

Makes a nice way to spice up those long government presentations as well, I bet. Little bit of positive marketing right there in the stats.

OK, what's the diagonal white line?

Damifino, maybe somebody forgot their lunch or to turn off the stove. :haha:

It's not fake news, it's just a little white line.

It doesn't answer my question above, but here is a link that shows four versions of the route without the diagonal white line.

Everything's better with a little white line.

The white line is where they walked back after the crash where they ran out of fuel.

It shouldn't be there, Jim. Not part of their flight, might be an early morning flight of someone else when the grabbed that shot as morning traffic was picking up.
