August 8th, 2017: Unusual Suspects

77 suspects on a charter flight from Fiji to Changchun Longjia International Airport in Jilin Province, China.
Since it's further north than Korea it's a 12 hour flight, so they're provided with escorts to keep them company.
Hey, 2/3 of them get window seats. ;)

Many of the Chinese people have a little money for the first time and have been falling for telephone scams. The government says the
scam cells are located all over the Far East and East Africa, but directed from Taiwan. They registered 590,000 cases in 2015, and the Chinese citizens are defrauded out of more than 10 billion yuan (roughly $1.5 Billion USD) a year.
So the Chinese government has been reaching out to touch someone, lots of someones.
They bring them to China for a good talking to and “supervised repatriation”.

From the looks on the faces of the flanking guards in the first row, I'd guess the prisoner between them with his head tilted forward is taking a leak into a bottle.

Bit of an optical illusion here. It looks like there are no aisles.

I wondered about that because in some of the pictures there appears to be some lady suspects.

That threw me too, I think it's 2-4-2 seating.

It took me a couple of days to realize how bizarre this is.
The second link brings up a bunch of questions that Fijians should be concerned about.
What gets me is that those prisoners (comfortably dressed in shorts) are phone scammers, people I talk to regularly (usually about dinner time).
They need five cops per?
Weird!

I think the "suspects" are in the window seats on both sides plus the row we see in the center, which would make it 5 to 3.

Well, at least some of them got window seats.

I betcha it was about 2/3 of them.

Prisoners are put along the outermost aspects of a transportation vehicle's interior so if it comes under attack, the prisoners are the first casualties. It helps discourage attacks. It also makes for good PR photos from outside the vehicle to see all those prisoners in the windows.

And wearing masks like that, a cop could easily pose as a prisoner for the cameras and not be found out. It might be a plane full of 100% cops.

All cops, just going home from a week in Fiji.
