July 3rd, 2017: Scale Worms

The lab coats call it Giant Antarctic Scale Worm, but giant is relative to the regular Scale Worms.
You can see they aren’t very big, but given time it would eat you, or anything else.
It’s an omnivore like we are. Maybe we should call it a Bro Worm.

Often cited as a new species (they’ve been known since the 1920s), but mostly gawked at for their comparatively large mouths. Maybe the fear was how they evert their pharynx (the top of their throat) to expose their chompers?

You probably wouldn’t want to touch the tiny ones any more than the giants, though. Just like most caterpillars with “fur” or bristles, the bristles of the scale worms are usually very irritating to the skin.

So they’ll not only eat you, they’ll also irritate you. I hate when that happens. :skull:

Oh what a cute little creature! ;) I definitely would not want to "meet" that thing. Thanks for sharing! :)

Now we just need to scale that up.

Yes, so the chompers are bigger than Sigourney Weaver's head.

Thanks Andy, great pet.

Hmm. Where have I seen tresses of that golden shade? And a visage so endearing?

Just before the blinding pain?
