Road trip

limey • May 27, 2017 2:58 am
Early start this morning for a trip to Oban Fire Station for a Community First Responders' meeting (11am to 2pm).
Up at 6.30 for a 50 minute drive to the Lochranza ferry (you can't book a place on this ferry so can't be sure of getting your car onto your chosen sailing).
Hazards on the road included baby rabbits, large sheep, pheasants, a peacock .... distractions at the roadside included a Bull.
Here I am with my coffee .....Image

Why am I not surprised that you are a first responder? The limeys are part of the solution.

You, my dear. are on on my bucket list ... the one where I have unlimited funds.
I dream of seeing Limeyland one day and meeting you, your husband and the kitties.

I just want to meet the cats. The can openers can wait.

I had a lovely poetic post all uploaded on the outward journey and everything but because of poor connectivity I made my original post 4 times, and deleted the wrong one in my tidying up ....
Here are more pics, from the return journey.

The car deck.

The passenger lounge - not a busy day. The crossing takes 35 minutes.

The vehicle ramp - there is one at each end of the boat.

The bridge. Look at all those windscreen wipers!

And here is a video of vehicles disembarking just before we got on yesterday, at Claonaig:

You see the big vehicle ramp gradually lower to allow vehicles off. The boat just runs aground at the landing stage and probably uses light engine pressure to stay there. There's no tying up, or rope throwing, and you've got to be alert as it's surprising how quickly everyone's off/on and the boat's under way again.

Have you tried videoing with the phone horizontal?
I can see that might be tricky in rough weather.

No seriously, I don't have a phone so I don't know if you can do that, or the picture will come out sideways?

They should replace that ramp with a treadmill and see if anyone can get on or off. :p:

Yes, you can hold the phone sideways to video stuff. I wasn't really thinking about framing the shot, just catching the moment for my Cellar buddies.
