Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there.

Does anybody out there know why some are in front, some in back and some are multiples (4, 6, 8)? It would really make things easier to understand. Thank you.:blush:
I would think the multiples are linked to the number of offspring likely to be produced, and location by the physical abilities.
I think the common rule of thumb is twice as many as the typical litter, for mammals.
