Feb 14th, 2017: Scottish Parliament

The new Scottish Parliament building at Holyrood, was built for about £500 million($626 million), some ten
times its initial budget. So it should be, and is, an impressive building. This is the bicycle parking lot.

What the hell, £500 million and they couldn't do better than a bunch of twisted pipe for the bicycle stanchions?

Did they buy them from some politician's relative?

Did they come from the lowest bidder?

Walking around looking at this forest of mangle, when you get to the end...

It's all a matter of perspective, eh?

But why are there no bicycles parked there? Are they forbidden?

The building is brand new, I don't think they had moved in yet when the pictures were taken.

Here's a picture (not mine) with bikes, well, one, and the Salisbury Crags behind.

The Parliament Building isn't so new nowadays having opened for business a dozen or more years ago. Folks still haven't forgotten the £400+ million though.
