The last war that was justified?
The last war we could afford?
The last war we won?

I read where ISIS is setting fires to oil wells again.
For glatt, a quote from an NBC News story with a Nov. 4 byline date:
"Thousands of families are living in a "smoke-filled hell" in Iraq after ISIS set fire to oil wells and created a black cloud bigger than Los Angeles, a charity said Friday.
The extremists have torched more than a dozen wells near Mosul during their retreat into the city in the face of a massive U.S.-backed offensive. "
And the most ironic part may be that the single most oil-rich nation in the world, which recently plopped into total economic chaos by playing that card wrong, is VENEZUELA. Plus we have that horrifying pipeline mess in the Dakotas ("We're gonna route this unwelcome, vigorously unwanted thing through First Nations land because the white city folk are too scared of it.") and the oil companies' constant pressure to be allowed to frack most of Alaska.
Oil is bad business, and it's only getting worse--anyone else old enough to remember gas rationing? The abrupt design switch from the ever-thirsty land yachts of the 60s & 70s to the econo-boxes of the 80s and 90s? Protests when it hit $1.50 a gallon here in the US? I do, if only faintly.
xoB's image was used by zerohedge when reporting the current ISIS fires.
I found it on the net and it was labeled Kuwait 1991, but I can't vouch for it's accuracy. Just thought it was a startling picture.
I agree. I remembered seeing it somewhere and google image searched it.
At the time, it was predicted that the purposely set oil well fires would take years to extinguish.
Red Adair and others did it in months.
Well, Red Adair was a badass.
Those camels are like... Ahh, nice and warm.
Well, Red Adair was a badass.
He was very good when he danced with Ginger Rogers as well.

Thank you, Mr G. I knew I could rely on you, sir! ;)
