Black Powder Horn

What do you call a buffalo's 200th birthday party?

A bisontennial!

Anyway, there used to be a buffalo tanch a few miles from here and when the guy got bored of buffalo and sold his herd he had a bunch of buffalo parts left over. I friend of mine grabbed a box full of horns and let them sit in his barn forever. He was cleaning shit out and offered them to me. In a weird moment of not being greedy, I only took three. And also I had no idea what I was going to do with them and didn't want to end up holding the box, so to speak.

Last year I decided to make a black powder horn and started my project which stalled and went back into project limbo.

Since hunting season is right around the corner I got to thinking about where I hunt (on a friend's land) and the unofficial game warden of the area who is also my mentor. I've been feeling like it's been a one way street with me on the receiving end for a few years so I figured I'd procrastinate today and make a powder horn as a gift,

I did not take photos as I went along. Maybe next time.

Here are 2 pictures. Maybe tomorrow I'll tell you how I did it.

eta: It's not done. I need to re-work the spout, make a cap/measure for it, and add brass pins to keep the end in place.

That looks great!

If you are looking for inspiration for your next horny project, I just saw this in an auction house on my lunch hour. I check that place out every Monday and look at all the stuff I don't need and won't be bidding on.
