Upgrade complete

The system has been upgraded to the latest rev of the forum software, with all the visual changes to go along with it! There may be a bit of tweaking going on for the next day or so...
Tony Shepps • Jun 25, 2001 2:19 am
And.. expect the visual style to uh... EVOLVE over the next few days.
Tony Shepps • Jun 25, 2001 2:40 pm
OK... sorry about that... things should be much better now.

The only thing I'm planning on removing now is the "rate thread", which is useful for places that have a ton of people with a ton of threads and very little community, but here it's kinda silly.

Hmmm.......Love the new features!........but the colours.......
Tony Shepps • Jun 26, 2001 12:00 am
Yeah, I know, I know... I'm gonna have to either go back to the default stuff, or just rip someone else's colors off. Dammit, I never have any visual sense!

Deafult was good.
Mabye green/purple?

The new features look pretty sweet - especially the file attach.

Re: vB code section - I see we're preparing for the potential arrival of AOLers in The Cellar...

Colors - I say default. These colors remind me too much of the ICU waiting room I was in and out of last year.

So there you go: To keep Mike's psyche intact, you must switch back to default. There is no other solution.

There, those are the default colors.

/. sets example, you follow

I dig the upload field, that's a very cool thing, but the color scheme was so much friendlier before. This has gone from looking like a big table at the local bar where everyone bullshits to a meeting room in a skyscraper where everyone discusses figures.
jaguar • Jun 27, 2001 1:44 am
aww, bit harsh i qite like it, tis a bit..corperate but its not bad, i can happily live iwth it.
Tony Shepps • Jun 27, 2001 10:20 am
Well damn, I dunno... the last thing this oughta be is "corporate". What is it about the feel that makes it that way?

I will definitely continue to mess with the default text; right now I'm looking (of course) at the post screen and there are all kinds of RULES listed, being the libertarian sort I'm against RULES in general, heh!
Chewbaccus • Jun 27, 2001 2:25 pm
I think we're kinda reeling still, Tony. I personally have no beef with the text style. Though when I said default colors, I had the blue/purple of the old Cellar in mind.

My $0.02 about the corporate/number-discussing skyscraper feel is how everything is a tad more sectioned than the last Cellar, at least in the "Post Reply" section. In the Cellar BU (Before Upgrade), where you typed the reply was the more dominant feature of the section. Now, it's shrunk considerably and more attention is devoted to the vB code and the smilies.

In short, attention is being shifted away from the message and to the frills and other extras.

...wait...*replaces "message" with "product"...

Good God, it a force of Marketing! Tony, you arrogant bastard, you've killed us all!

Hahaha
Overreacting-

No, no you can't take it all back now! The system is reeling with the overwhelming bloat of crap! That's what you really believe, isn't it Chew!

Do I sound defensive? I'll fix it all with a Dreaded Smiley ---

;)

I will admit that I am a bit confused by some of the stuff, like vB Code. (DISCLAIMER: I am only semi-computer literate.) Overall, I like the setup, particularly where you can create your own title now.

I think all and all, that it will take us a little bit of time to adjust to (like remembering where the "View New Posts" link is now). Nevertheless, I will continue my volunteer work as marketing specialist. Now I just need to update my sig for the news groups...
