and by people, I mean me.
Sundae • Nov 7, 2015 10:43 am
I've been looking at options for sending. Think I will get mine off ASAP to get a lower price. Well, a week on Monday, really (money issues as usual!)

I have to warn my SS recipient that as much of the packaging material as possible will be recycled to lower the cost and the price! Probably magazine pages/ flyers/ free newspapers. But I'm confident it will arrive undamaged. In my experience, things are more bashed about by Customs than the postal services.
Pamela • Nov 7, 2015 10:46 pm
And I'd like to second that bit about posting pictures and sharing the cheer.
Not just a one-line statement with no details this time!

Disclosure statement: I totally forgot to post pics of my gift last year too so I am just as guilty as the next one.

Items for my recipient purchased, but waiting for them to arrive.
Will commence wrapping on the day I get them, but probably won't be able to afford to post until a week on Saturday.

That still leaves plenty of time by my reckoning.

lumberjim • Nov 20, 2015 7:32 pm

I'm gonna have to pull a rabbit outta somewhere to pull this one off.

Pop quiz all you SS giftees. You immediate attention is required!

It's a brief quiz, so pay attention.

1 -- Are you a car guy/gal/nut/hotrodder/lowrider/gearhead/enthusiast?

Thanks in advance.

by the way, I'm asking all of you since one of you is my target, ahem, giftee. Just answer the dang question, willya?
BigV • Nov 26, 2015 1:08 am
I'll start. :)

1 -- Yes, definitely.
limey • Nov 26, 2015 3:03 am
Me next:
1. -- Nope. Nuh uh. No way. Not in the teeniest weeniest little bit!
Sundae • Nov 26, 2015 7:00 am
Well I know you're not my Secret Santa, as I frequently tell everyone I haven't driven in years!
Darn. I'd have liked a BigV gift.

ETA - have everything for my giftee.
And know the postage, and it's reasonable.
They'll get a couple of little presents, rather than one big one.
Sorry - I just got used to buying little gifts for my 100 little prizes for Mum & Dad.

They're wrapped in magazine pages, not wrapping paper. So I've economised there.
I'm honestly not giving anything away - I asked for an overseas recipient, so my identity will be obvious from the second the package arrives, thanks to Customs requirements.
Clodfobble • Nov 26, 2015 8:08 am
Not a car gal, not even a little bit.

I will post (mail) on Monday.
Had a fruitless morning in the Minor Injuries Unit - everything is okay officially, it was an ongoing issue which I started to worry about.
But because they were short-staffed I grossly underestimated the amount of time I'd be there, and the last post collection on Saturdays is midday.

I could have rushed and scrambled and at least got it into the Post Office, but I was cross and grumpy, and I want to gifts to be sent in the spirit of Christmas, in case some of my crossness got into the packaging, like some sort of rancid ribbon.

Either way, it wouldn't have left until Monday anyway.

I have received my Secret Santa gift!
I deliberately skittered my eyes over the Customs label, trying not to ruin the surprise. I do know who it's from though (DAMN overseas post!)

I won't be taking it down to London with me, so I will be opening before Christmas Day.
But I'll let you know when I do open it.

I've posted mine also.
Airmail of course, and later than I'd hoped. But it should still be there in plenty of time for Christmas, even if it is later than some.

I'll post a few pics if thats OK with everyone. Technically its not a SS gift though.

First!

:santa:

Christmas Cellar style is here!

So, I got my Cellar gift from BigV as you can see...

Image

WooHoo! Chromecast Audio - connects to my phone/Samsung tablet and pipes whatever I'm streaming to my stereo. Works for pretty much everything except (duh) Apple or iTunes which is fine because I don't use either.

Image

Here is the complete spread including an awesome calendar for 2016 which I will hang in my office and lie my ass off and tell everybody I own whatever car is in the pic for that month.

Image

Thanks, BigV - an awesome start to this Christmas.
Clodfobble • Dec 14, 2015 7:43 am
We just got one of those Chromecast Audio hockey pucks for one of our kids. Nice haul!
Clodfobble • Dec 14, 2015 9:04 pm
Woo! Look what I got today!

Lovely winter scene on the card, much different than the 70 degrees it was outside today. Not that I'm complaining, about the card or the weather. :) And inside... A cherry-red vintage kitchen scale. Super cool!

I'm not 100% certain on the identity of my Santa, though. It came from New Jersey, which I think is the region Beestie (as opposed to Beest in Michigan) last admitted to hailing from. So that's my final answer, Regis, unless of course Beestie refutes my heinous accusation.

Thank you very much, and merry Christmas to all!
lumberjim • Dec 14, 2015 9:46 pm
I'm from Joisey
classicman • Dec 14, 2015 9:51 pm
Here are two from Daniels special elven friend across the pond.
The first is one of three very cute knitted mushrooms. He couldn't wait to get them onto the tree. The latter is him sharing some INCREDIBLE edibles with his sister. Note the usage of the right hand. If you don't, he will tell you all about it ;).
Thanks so much Sam - you really are a sweetheart. Hugs from America. <3

I knew that! I mean I did, like two seconds before I came into this thread and had it verified. The memory of you moving finally came to me in the middle of the night (yuk yuk yuk...) In my head you're still in Cherry Hill, and really you're sort of in Pennsylvania. The Philly Dwellars all seem to stick in a particular group in my head, and you've hung out with lots of them in person.

Thank you, Jim. It's really lovely.

That hat is No where as Epic as the Vicking hat , but hey it works !!!

I've been wanting that bell for a long time. The 03 VStar had one on it when I got it. I had never heard the legend until the guy that sold it to me told me about it. I moved it over to the 07 when I sold the 03, but it fell off almost immediately.
I took that to mean that this bike needed it's own bell. I didn't want to buy it myself because it's better if it's a gift. I suggested it a couple times before for birthday etc, but didn't get one. I have had a couple minor things go wrong with wiring and upgrades on this bike. Hoping that the new bell will put a stop to that.

I haven't read a physical book in 5 years, but I'll definitely be reading the Zeppelin book at bedtime for a while.

The hat is warm, but tight as hell. I'm going to try to give it to Amanda to wear. Her head is as small as mine is big. And that would be funny. She is, after all, having sex with lumberjim.... Which makes her lumbersexual. Sorry about that visual....

What a terrible girlfriend i am! It's been in the back of my mind for ages to buy you a bell for the new bike and just always forgot...so thank you very much! We will both appreciate that! The lumbersexual hat is fantastic! And it's even in a sweet Scottish plaid! I love it! The knitted viking hat? Whoa is that awesome! Jim will have to bring that up this weekend & take a pic to post on here for you all to see! I'll prob be swimming in it with my tiny head but i will gladly model it! What fantastic gifts! You all know Jim so well!

Oh, well Jim will have to wear the Lumbersexual hat and I'll wear the viking hat while we're having sex...again, sorry for the visual, but I'm only following Jims lead :) Never intended your gifts would go that way, did you?

Non-Secret Santa presents:
I don't usually publicly tell the general Cellar when someone on here has been good to me. Carruthers for example has helped me endlessly, especially with getting to essential appointments which have fallen perilously close to the day official funds hit my account.

But this year I've made out like a bandit, so I want to give some payback in the only way I can.

TWO presents from Limey. The first a goodie selection of toiletries from Arran. Absolutely perfect for my trip to London and means I can keep some of the money I would otherwise have spent on my Boots gift card (from my Godfather) for 2016. Oh and they all smell divine.
And today I picked up a calendar of rowers. Male rowers, from Warwick University. Naked male rowers from Warwick University. I haven't even looked at them all yet. Not enough anyway.
Gosh.

From Carr, my official present (aside from all the "help" I've had recently, especially when I was in hospital) was two books on America and a DVD boxset. The books are definitely coming to London with me.

From Bruce, a sum of money to treat myself to a good lunch. It did. A very good lunch. For the rats and me.

A phone call from DanaC, who I don't hear enough from, because we're both as poor as church mice with holes in their little mouse pockets, and can never synchronise our telephone allowance. We had a lovely chat and hope to meet up in the New Year. Again, if we can synchronise our payment schedules!

And finally my Secret Santa - Clodfobble.
I promise to get a photo on here asap. Six (count 'em, SIX) beautiful scarves. All varied in colour and pattern. And a beautiful card with such a lovely, personal sentiment it brought tears to my eyes. Another gift that will be travelling with me as I go tomorrow.

And thank you to the whole Cellar for your kind words, deeds and actions throughout this year. I can honestly say it has been the worst of my life. But without y'all I wouldn't be facing 2016 with hope, or perhaps even at all.

Love you.

I like that front entryway. The whole thing. The glass in the door and the side windows, the hardwood floor, the stairs there, the little hall table with the basket on it. I like it. I wish my house had a nice entry like that.

Phew!

Sorry it ended up being late - as I said in my card, I had intended to post it on the Tuesday, but then ended up in hospital for nine nights.

Glad it gave you a Boxing Day treat anyway.

I said I'd post my Secret Santa gifts this weekend.
I didn't.
But I did take the photos, and am only just able to upload them.

Another apology - I was actually sent six gorgeous scarves, and didn't realise until I was taking the photo that I only had five with me. The sixth would be hanging on the back of my door - on mild days I am already wearing them. When the wind gets cold I have to drape myself in woolly ones, but these will see me through all but the very coldest weather.

And the variety of colours mean there is something to match everything I own.

Thank you for the card, the sentiment and the thought - great taste Secret Santa (yes, I know who you are, but I didn't know if you wanted me to say)

I was proud of the fact that I remembered to write "Happy Christmas" instead of "Merry Christmas" as us Yanks are inclined to say. It was downright culturally-sensitive of me, I thought.

Just realized I have not posted my pictures! :p: To my defense, I ran out of data on my phone in 10 days(!!) but thought something was just wrong with my phone. That's what happens when you've got no damn internet at home, got only 1G of data on your phone but stupidly used pandora to listen to music because you were too scared to stay home alone in the woods. Anyways......the forum isn't letting post anything either. Well, it does, but my size limit is 0k. Okay, I'm going stop whining now.
Sundae • Jan 16, 2016 6:17 am
Thanks, Lola!
I knew you were having trouble logging on and that you always have problems with photos ;)

So a little background FTR. Hope you don't mind.

I wrapped all the prizes in old copies of a magazine to save on money/ be environmentally responsible. British Dwellars have received gifts similarly wrapped for birthdays etc. I figured once you opened the main postage bag it would still be fun to unwrap things.

Your suggestions said you liked a number of things I knew would never get through Customs (nothing dirty, people!) but also gadgets, baking, anything fun and quirky, lip gloss, hand lotion.
I don't think I'm breaking confidence by saying that, because it's what I knew of you! You also said "Surprise me!" - probably as a last resort as I know you're not a greedy or materialistic Bunny.

So the little cat faces you see in the photo are lip salves. To their left are cat socks. I'm a cat lady. To their right is a Wallet Ninja. It was as close to anything tool-like I thought would get through.

On top of these is a Selection Pack - a traditional present for children you don't know very well at Christmas in the UK. Different types of choc. This is a small, cheap one (sorry, but it's true.) You can get REALLY big ones with lots of full sized different bars in. I figured a taster would be better.

Underneath are Christmas crackers - cardboard tubes containing novelties, hats, jokes. Two people take one end each and pull, and there is a "snap" inside. The crack in the cracker. Many people now believe that if you get the larger end, all the loot inside is yours. When I grew up, if it was the cracker by your place setting, it didn't matter who ended up with the larger end. These are traditional over the whole Christmas season.

On the cracker box is an owl that I simply fell in love with, and an LED butterfly. You switch it on and the light flashes different colours. I bought one for Mum. Bought her an owl too actually.

On the Cadbury's selection pack is some hand cream.
It looked nice.

Behind it are some stick on (edible) eyes.
Little eyes for fruit and veg and making things look funny. Made me laugh anyway.

There's also some gold ribbon with Lola's real name on it.
I had it printed as I expect she is the sort of person who decorates presents beautifully. If her cakes and cookies are anything to go by!

Then behind that is the staple Cellar cock. A blue ornament which may not have made it across the Atlantic in tact, but it's a fun throw-away thing.

And then a calendar. Of my "home" town (it's not home, I just live here.)

Guess what?
I bought these things over about four months, as I was buying things for Mum & Dad. I only added the personal items when I knew who I was buying for.
I had a ball.

I can't promise the same for my SS next year, although I'll try. I do love being just a little bit foreign on this website, and trying to give a something back.
This year I remembered how wonderful it was to get prizes from Ali, Jim & Jinx, Sarge etc.
And especially this year, after hospital, after I sent my SS package, gifts from Limey, my Secret Santa Clod, and the always marvs Carr.

So I hope you don't think I've been too self-promoting in saying what I bought.
It really is just that I enjoyed it so much that I wanted to share, and I know Lola may not have the ability to do so.
Would love your review on the chocolate though!
Lola Bunny • Jan 16, 2016 2:57 pm
Thank you for explaining everything. I don't mind it at all!

I loved all the newspaper wrappings. It was really fun to rip through them presents. All those cat presents....I was thinking, "How did she know I have cats now?" Then I remembered that you love cats. :D The ninja wallet....OMG! I love it! Stuck it into my wallet right away.

The chocolate selection pack was a life saver. One day I was pmsing and in a foul mood because I couldn't resolve the data problem I had on my phone. I had wanted to buy some ice cream, but Bruce gave me a look and said, "If you can't lose weight, don't blame me." I decided to not buy any but was I :mad2::mad::mad2::mad: I came home and ate all of them chocolates you gave, hihi. They were yummy. I remember eating those when I was a kid. :D Eating them cheered me right up.

Christmas crackers....I thought inside were cookies crackers. One day, I felt like eating crackers and tore one open. Imagine my surprise....hahahhaa. That's what I get for not reading the box. Except for the one I tore open, I saved the rest for next Christmas. I'm glad you described how to open them. :)

Hand lotion....I use it before going to bed. I like hand lotions. :D By the way, I love them lip balm too. Tossed one in my purse right away.

Edible eyes: I told Bruce the next time we eat burgers, I will stick eyes on them. :D

The personalized ribbon: I think that is so cool. Cool as the Christmas card. It was extremely thoughtful of you.

The cock, the butterfly, and the owl....they all go onto the bookcase. :D

The calendar is so nice. Yes, I recognized that it was of your "hometown."

I really like everything you gave and the thought that went into them. Thank you a whole bunch. As I said before, opening your present felt like Christmas present all over. Actually, I think I was more excited opening your gifts than my own on Christmas morning. :D:D:D:D

I'm sorry that you had to be in a the hospital. I haven't read enough to know why, but I know your health isn't at its greatest. I hope you are feeling better now and hopefully on your way to better health. I'm sorry for ignoring this comment before. No excuse, but I've become a bit self-absorbed lately with the recent move.
