I am not sure if to post this in technology or here, but I figured it would be mainly of interest for gamers.

So a few months ago - though I only heard about it now - the company that attempted to revolutionize AI content and questing in MMOs and other sandbox-fitting environments, with a failed kickstarter and later a contract with EA on EQ:Next only a few years before EA got bought out.

I think that's a pretty sad end to a story [system] that could have made a huge impact on gaming as a whole.

I meant SOE, not EA.... When you are tired they all look the same I guess...

It isn't, but... Why is that? How come AI projects do so badly outside of academic settings?
