Eligible Spouses

TIME Magazine says less people a willing to commit to marriage, or can't find a suitable candidate. This is especially true in religious communities where marriage and kids are expected, like Mormons and Orthodox Jews. In communities like those, marriage is expected at a certain age, like the Jew's 22 for boys, and 19 for girls.

I think these norms were established when life expectancy was much shorter. Today, these are the ages when college and exciting worldly opportunities are beckoning. But all is not rosy outside those sects, the general population shows an imbalance of available mates.



It gets worse as age increases.



And that's without factoring a college grad wanting to marry another grad, and all the requirements individual people may have.

Important to note that these maps are the ratios of men & women WITH a college degree and this article is entirely about college-educated people demanding to only marry college-educated people

I did enjoy how the eligible Mormons are at a screwed-up ratio (3 Mormon ladies for every 2 Mormon lads) and so Mormon women in their 20s are getting boob jobs to desperately compete. A chastity-oriented religion, no sex until marriage, but they are paying big money to have big titties. How marvelously hypocritical.

I think it is important to point out that, despite the fact that I am married, I am an eligible spouse.

Is anyone else wishing they had the money to open a club chain specifically placed on the boarders where the dark blue and dark pink areas touch?
