From 1945 to 1991 we had a nice cold war going. Reds under the bed, commie spies in our government, and subversive infiltrators in higher education. With that we had prosperity, full employment, and a burgeoning middle class. Then those dirty rotten commies gave up, and everything has gone to hell.
