That bundle of cat nerves is pretty cool. Of course, it immediately makes me wonder how they collected that specimen. Seems like it would be messy, whatever they do.

Best case scenario, it was an old dead stray cat. Died from natural causes. And they had some machine, instead of a kid with a pen knife cutting away anything that isn't nerve.

I watched a programme on dreams a few years back, and they showed a clip of an experiment where they circumvented part of a cat's brain. They posited that there is an inhibitor that stops mammals from acting out their dreams. They found it in cats, and the clip showed a moggy wandering about while sleeping.

It was awful; part of the skull was missing and wires attached to its brain.
I don't honestly know how I feel about animal testing, because if my brother (for example) had something that could kill or cure him, I'd rather it had been tested on an animal first. A scapegoat, if you will, or Julia.

But even though I eat animals I try my best not to waste them. And at least the lives of edible animals are governed by humane laws, and usually quite short.

Could be a replica, also.
