We had the foggy/cloudy Grand Canyon just a few weeks ago and today we have the snowy version. Never saw it like this so I figured I'd share. The original is from the park's Flickr.

Imagine just walking up on that...

Wow. I've been there when there was snow at the rim, but never IN the canyon.

I was talking to a woman on Christmas, who said on a recent trip to Vegas they had run out to see the Grand Canyon. I asked north or south rim? She said west rim, which threw me a little. They didn't want to spare the time to go to the park or monument, so the west side of the river at the Hualapai Reservation was the closest spot.

The little voice in my head screamed, shut up Bruce, don't say nothin, nohow, to nobody. Bite your tongue, breath, breath, do not mutter about time use, do not say naughty words....
Oh well. there's lots of pictures on the net.
I understand many people will never be able to get there, and others make different choices. I also realize it's my problem, not theirs, when I hear they were so close and didn't bother makes my head spin. But damn, just damn.

I read somewhere that the average visit to the Grand Canyon is less than an hour in duration.

I've never spent less than 2 days.

I can believe that, which is kind of a good thing for the South Rim of the park, considering it gets the lion's share of the 4.5 million visitors.
Watching the changes in shadows and coloration, from weather and sun movement, is cool but far from the current quest for instant gratification.
I don't think I would have had the patience to discover it if I hadn't have been a captive audience in a boat.

I did spend most of a day at the National monument where unlike the park, you can look right down 4,000 ft on the river.
I kept humming, "I think I can fly", but the ex wasn't buying it.

Ex?

As God as my witness, I thought she could fly.

Yeah, me too. It was shorts and t-shirt weather at Plateau Point, and then full of ice and snow when we got to the top.
