Out in Ann Arbor Michigan there's a chalk artist running loose in the streets.

The pictures, which can be seen here, appear to have been taken in warm weather.

my friend bought this from him yesterday at a local artists' fair. the owner of the wall made him wash the original art off because they thought it was a "gateway to graffiti"

Cool, thanks monster. I like that one. :thumb:

The wall guy has a valid point, I guess. Someone with less talent, using paint, tags the wall next to that. Or maybe he'd read about the crap in England over Banksy's stuff where whole walls have been stolen or vandalized. It's his wall but it's also a shame to not let nature weather the chalk away, a slooooow fade.

These are great and even better when in context.
Sort of Stuart Little's neighborhood.

We had an IOD a few years back about another street artist, more of an illusionist.

It is hard to figure out when tagging, graffiti, public art, etc. enhances already ugly urban environments and when it makes them uglier.

Speaking of context, the last drawing on the imgur link (the pink fish) has an urban note:
Don't steal the table and chairs!
Or maybe if you do, take them all.

Either don't steal, or no brawling on the sidewalk. :D
