G M Potato

The Agriculture Department on Friday approved the first genetically modified potato for commercial planting in the United States, a move likely to draw the ire of groups opposed to artificial manipulation of foods.

The Innate potato, developed by the J.R. Simplot Co., is engineered to contain less of a suspected human carcinogen that occurs when a conventional potato is fried, and is also less prone to bruising during transport.

Boise, Idaho-based Simplot is a major supplier of frozen french fries to fast-food giant McDonald’s.

Cut that GM sumbitch into shoestrings, throw them nasty, GM bastids in some 275° oil, and hand them bitches to me.

I'm fat, I like eating, and I don't give a fuck.

:D

Silly? Ridiculous.

Jesus, there's like a wall of ingredients for the US fries.

That's because we're sophisticated, unlike the simple folk in the old country. Image

Yeah man. We haven't even figured out how to use ammonia in our burgers yet :p

See, that proves you haven't kept up with [strike]Monsanto[/strike] technology. :haha:

A pin-point of light on the horizon,
The next day, back at the apartment where I was staying, I lifted the lid off a pot of boiling potatoes. Pungent ribbons of steam curled their way into my nose: the smell of newly dried cornstalks and wet earth mingled with something much sweeter, like that first bite of perfectly ripe peach. A tan one decorated with swirls of cherry tasted distinctly of roasted chestnuts. Another, with deep purple skin and white flesh marbled pink, had the flavor of caramelized beets. One daffodil yellow potato was unbelievably buttery. Many were more dense and filling than I expected.

I've seen those potatoes recently. they're freakin delicious. the purple ones are purple aaaall the way through. HIGHLY recommended.

Purple potatoes aren't necessarily GM. There are some that have been bred that way here in the UK. They are delish!

Right, not GM, one of the many delicious alternative spuds which are hard to find. Fortunately a few pioneers like Albert Bartlett in Scotland, and the new interest of Black Gold Farms or Wada Farms in the US, are changing that.

Yeah, I've grown the purple ones here. I think I got them through Seeds of Change which would mean non-gmo. They are gorgeous.

I'm holding out for the Nissan potato.
