If you are bored and disgusted by politics and don't bother to vote, you are in effect voting for the entrenched Establishments of the two major parties, who please rest assured are not dumb, and who are keenly aware that it is in their interests to keep you disgusted and bored and cynical and to give you every possible psychological reason to stay at home doing one-hitters and watching MTV on primary day. By all means stay home if you want, but don't bullshit yourself that you're not voting. In reality, there is no such thing as not voting: you either vote by voting, or you vote by staying home and tacitly doubling the value of some Diehard's vote.

Here there are certainly a lot of elections where you get to choose between a shitburger and a sloppy joe, but there are also a small handful of individuals running (with greater-than-snowball-in-hell chances of winning) who appear to be worth nudging a little closer to power.

Even if the guy you want doesn't stand a snowball's chance, vote for him anyway. Otherwise the underdogs will never win, because they won't even bother to try.

Extremists vote 90% of the time. Moderates that do not vote are essentially voting for extremists.

Don't know who to vote for? Go vote but for no one. If all moderates did that, then moderate politicians would have balls to work for the country rather than vote an extremist agenda. For example, my Congressman talks moderate concepts. But he knows better. He votes routinely with extremists. He knows most moderates - the majority - do not vote. If we all went to the polls and voted for no one, then your representative suspects the majority who are educated may vote for him in the future. He then can work for the advancement of America rather than for extremist rhetoric.

One of my candidates won... the one who was unopposed. PA has a new governor, which was needed, let's hope the new one is a moderate not a dressed up extremist. We're keeping our extremist Representative much like tw's he can talk like he's reasonable. Yay democracy.
