What is your prediction as to the make-up in the U.S. Senate after the upcoming election? Will that be a good thing for our country?
Griff, Do you have a number in mind? For instance, 52 rep. 46 Dem 2 independent. Will it be bad because you see more gridlock between congress and Obama? Other reasons?
I figure Republicans aka "Old People" vote in off year elections. It will lead to a lot of show-boating. They'll keep passing things Obama can't sign and claim he's obstructing the will of the people. Two more years of nonsense punking a weak Presidency. It should lead to a pretty ugly election cycle. I wonder if there could ever be a progressive-libertarian coalition? Superficially we'd dismiss it out of hand but looking at how the two majors will undoubtedly run a BushClinton insider on the same platform of mid-east meddling and banker protection something needs to give.
In this neck of the woods, I have to agree with Griff - Republicans will turn out to vote in greater numbers than Democrats in an off-year election. I live in a Republican stronghold in spite of it also being economically depressed and a haven for those who need public support.
People in this area feel they're treated contemptuously by Democrats, so even if they need government help, they continue to support a party that doesn't listen to them.
Very interesting Griff and orthodoc. However, I am still interested in numbers. Any prediction? There are at least two "independents" so that leaves 98 senators.
I know not all 98 senators are up for election, it is usually about a third of them. Some of the estimates I have seen are 52-48 assuming the two independents caucus with the dems.
What is your prediction as to the make-up in the U.S. Senate after the upcoming election?
The make-up will be exactly as it has been.
Crooks, thieves, child molesters, ne'er-do-wells...
100%.
Gravdigr, HaHa. Pretty good. Not sure about the child molester thing though. I think you nailed three out of four.
