President Obama visits Stonhenge

Pres Obama visited Stonehenge yesterday. He was on his way from the NATO summit in South Wales when he instructed the pilot of his helicopter to land so he could visit the monument.
Well, that's what the press say. Being the fully paid up cynic that I am, I take the view that these things don't happen spontaneously. I'm happy to stand corrected.

Although it could have been semi-spontaneous, it's likely the decision was made far enough in advance to send people to check for heathens and terrorists who might be worshipping there, but wanted to keep it under their hat to prevent hoards of press from trampling the site.

But they can make changes on the fly according to the whims of the boss, although it tends to make the Secret Service pissy. LBJ was famous for doing that. Of course they'd have to make a couple of strafing runs first, and flame thrower all the mosquitoes.
