Charity vote plea!

DanaC • Sep 3, 2014 4:22 pm
Mum's branch of SAMS is one of the contenders for a community award - I just cast my vote. If any of youse are up for a quick vote to help keep the funding flowing that'd be awesome.

They really do an amazing job. And I'm not just saying that cause Ma is a SAM:p

They listen when people need to be listened to. Without judgment or demand they are there. Whether someone has reached the very end of their tether and are about to take a final step, or someone is lonely, or bereft, or coping with with an appalling situation and just needs to get it off their chest. The suicidal, the bereaved, the lonely and the confused. Anyone who needs someone to listen to them and maybe to offer the consolation of a person who cares enough to stay on that phone with them whatever time of day or night. Whatever the problem. And all of them volunteers.

Which one is it, the halifax?
DanaC • Sep 3, 2014 9:06 pm
That's the one aye:)
Sorry I thought the link went straight to it - I'd forgotten it goes to a page with them all and then you select the one to vote for
Halifax Samaritans :)

Oh btw - you have to give your email when you vote and they send you a link to confirm your vote to avoid robo voting

Thanks Ali and Fargon :)

The top award is, I think £3000. That could really help towards the running costs of their little branch :)

Woohoo! Multivoading :P

It's supposed to be limited to one per person, but probably get away with one per email.

Huge thanks to all of youse for your voads :)

You helped mum's branch of SAMs win the vote and they've been awarded the top prize of £3000. Given that their little branch has to fund most of its overheads itself - with private donations and the proceeds of a little charity shop in town, that 3k makes a huge dent in their overheads.

Cheers!
