Overheard Today

A conversation between two University students regarding Game of Thrones
"I couldn't believe it when that man killed that dog!"
There then followed a discussion about the killing of a horse, which looked so real. "Do you think it was real?"

And later, a party of four older people.
Man "So what's this I've heard about you having a sauna put in the sun-lounge?"
Woman. "I'm going to have a sauna put into the sun-lounge."
*****
Woman 2 "What is a sauna anyway? Is it a hot-tub?"

sigh

But that's the trouble I have with TV violence, it looks so real ....

Yes,but you have the nous to know it's not real, at least intellectually.
These expensively educated children were having an earnest discussion about them actually killing a horse for a TV programme.

The "dog" comment was me being a newly minted Game of Thrones snob at them not knowing the name of the character or the actor or the fact it was in fact a Direwolf, not a dog - you don't see anything on screen for that one. They are really quite pivotal parts of plot and not like me confusing actors at all. Really.

Of course another HBO show, "Luck", was cancelled for killing horses.

Seen today (sorry, no pictures):
1) a sign in Kentucky advertising "used cows" for sale

2) a bit earlier, a roadside sign advertising the KY Action Park. No doubt a popular destination for the local gay crowd.

I cannot make this stuff up.

Well, for starters, there's a fairly narrow time frame in which "new" cows can even exist...

...Aaaaand next:

Wrong 'KY'. Don't put it on yer biscuit, either.
