I think you can be in multiple leagues with one NFL.com login.

Nah, I gave up on that a couple years ago. Last year was the first year I really tried, had a good team and checked my stats each week and made the right choice for my starters like 90% of the time... and I still came in 10th. When I won, it was by huge margins, and when I lost, I usually still had a very good score and just got unlucky that my opponent scored a couple points higher. (My season was like a demonstration of the flaws inherent in the electoral college system!) I actually looked at it and if I just rearranged who I'd gone up against each week, I would have been in like the top three.

Anyway... all of this is to say that I'm putting effort into it again this year, and you fuckers are going down.

My memory of last season was that I did very poorly all season long, but when I went back in and looked at the final standings, I was towards the top. So yeah, the system doesn't always reward the best.

There's certainly an amount of luck involved, but it helps to know a little bit about the game and the players. I got lucky that the players I put faith in did the trick from time to time.

I love my win, but have told folks if I were in a really competitive league for money...I wouldn't win, place, or even show.

But it sure makes the season even more fun for me.

draft pushed back one day to Aug 24th. That's a Sunday, so we should be able to see our teams and grab unsigned free agents Sunday morning. I meant to set it that way, then realized the 23rd meant it would draft at 1 am Sat( late Friday night) and I work Saturday, so that would mess me up.

I didn't think that mattered to anyone else... let me know if it does.

Hey Classic! I'd be happy to 'help' with your team. Like if you want suggestions or aren't sure how to perform a certain action. Basically, I can help you with just telling you how I've managed my teams in the past (on a wing and a prayer, mostly.)

And if there's a week you can't do anything with your team you can PM me and I can make sure there's no injureds or byes playing with viable members left on the bench. I don't think I'll go so far as to go out and get you new players or anything like that.

I am the sole proprieter of The River Rats, and I like it that way. Win or lose, it's all me. So yeah, yours would be a separate team.

I think the league should vote on this, though. I mean, a certain conflict of interest is implied. I am quite competitive but I will tell you, I NEVER cheat at games, never have because it's always been my belief that a win by cheating isn't a real win. And it doesn't even feel good. In fact, my honest nature would make it feel really badly.

So...everyone...these are the ground rules I've come up with. Feel free to add or subtract or give your opinions on the matter. I'm happy to help, I just don't want to do it if it seems less than kosher to some.

look at the top for MY TEAM. under that bar will be Edit Settings. That takes you to where you can change the team name ( pre draft only ) and under that grid of team helmets, there is upload custom logo. you have to click on that helmet, and it pops up an upload manager (allow pop ups for this site) The logo recccomeded size is 80x40 pixels.

once you've completed that upload, remember to scroll down and hit Submit!

They are sneaky with the tabs. Once you're in the right place, you still have to select the tab for how you want to see it.

Yeah. Navigating around the site makes sense to the site designers, I'm sure. But it's not intuitive at all. You just have to click randomly on stuff.

In the league I set up for my family, I had posted a poll. And everyone else wanted to also post their own polls, but I'll be damned if I can figure out how I did that.

I think only the league manager can do that. Under 'manage league' or something

Great game! It was going back on forth so much on projected winner...very exciting. I made a few crucial misjudgments on my line-up, but likely none of it would have mattered against what will be the new high score of the league for this year.

Again, I really enjoy football on Sundays so much more with this fantasy league. It's really a lot of fun. So thanks, jim. Even though my adrenaline was pumping as I watched Manning pile on more and more points. But hey, it's Peyton. Who can begrudge him anything?

I don't understand how the rankings work, and it's not just sour grapes that I've fallen to 6th place.

Why aren't the Philly Forktards ranked 1st? They are tied with the other 6 of us for W-L-T records, and they have earned the most total points in the entire league and had few points scored against them. Why are they ranked #5?

I Can't get to it on my phone, but on the desk top site, it tells you under manage league. I think it's division record, then head to head... I'll check when I get to work later. And I'm 7th, with the dane record as James, but I have more points scored and less allowed than him! But he beat me week one.

I just saw a blurb about Marshawn Lynch and the press. Apparently he was fined $100,000 for not talking to the press after a game, so the next game, he just gave one word answers. Mostly "yeah." Seems like a pretty bizarre thing to fine for. And a lot to have to pay.

To put it into perspective, here's a list of fines handed out this season.

Fighting $8k
Roughing the passer $16k
physical contact with officials $27k

But you don't promote the NFL's business by talking to some reporters in the locker room, and they fine your ass $100,000. Amazing.

Surely it wasn't a one-time thing. I bet he'd been warned, he'd ignored the instructions, they said you do it or we'll fine you, he said "Fuck you, I'm rich biatch!" So they had to make an example.

"Had to" is obviously a bit strong, I don't thing anyone listens to those stupid interviews anyway, but then again if your boss tells you to do something are you just going to ignore him? Non-athletes can't get away with that crap. He only got me 11 points last week, I'm not impressed.

wasn't that last year during the superbowl press day? I remember that he got a 50K fine for not showing up on the first day, but showed up to avoid the $100k on day 2. Deon Sanders interviewed him like he was talking to a mental patient that had just come outside for the first time in 5 years.

On the local late night news, they edited the "interview" to just his answers; I can't find that clip. But this one is fundamentally the same.

In the clip I saw, they only had his answers, "yes" "yes" "yes" "no" "No Juice" "yes", etc etc. It was really funny. Now that I've heard the questions too, it's less funny, but more realistic. The man just doesn't want to talk to the media. And he can afford to pay the price for that decision, apparently. Whatever. Can the NFL fine him for not making sense? Will the non-sequitur answers eventually drive away the reporters who're not getting their questions satisfied? Who knows.

Riding a five-game winning streak, No. 2-seed The Shitmen meets No. 6-seed Philly Forktards in a playoff-bracket matchup this week. It's their second meeting of the season, after The Shitmen beat Philly Forktards, 200.70 to 186.30, in Week 9. Initial projections have this one as somewhat close, with The Shitmen favored to win by 11.20 points.
The Shitmen has the St. Louis Rams DEF (21.50 projected points) and Patrick Peterson (10.30 projected points) playing in the game Thursday night, while all of the starters for Philly Forktards will play later this week. Only one other matchup gets going on Thursday, The Grossly Incandescent vs. Carmen's Hot Wife - Redux.
Philly Forktards has a pronounced advantage at two positions: WR and K. Their biggest margin is at WR, where they're projected to beat The Shitmen 69.80 - 48.10.

I started to say that I finally made the finals... but when I checked... this is a rematch of our first season. Spencer's Flying Spaghetti Monsters beat me that year. That was before we switched to the 2 game final round format, so this year, I'll get to savor my loss a little longer.

Spencer may have more players that are taking it easy at the end of the season. QBs taking a week off and such. Dallas has a reason to play on.

That happened to me last year, or at least, that's my story.

LJ and I were both at the Eagles/Cowboys game - (separately) It was one of the most exciting games I've attended in a long time. Good game. I thought you totally had it won, then I realized it was the last TD to Dez (same exact play as the first... that clinched the win for you. If on the fucking Eagles had maybe covered him ... spilled milk and all that.

YEAH. It was 42-0 at one point. They had them reeling the whole time. Both teams put their backups in in the 4th quarter, and the 2nd string guys gave up the shut out.

I like a good competitive game like the last one against the Eagles... but I really am much happier watching them execute like they did yesterday. nearly flawless.

I was wondering when errbody was gonna notice that the season had ended.

This is my first 1st place finish in over 10 years of playing... and usually 2 leagues each year.

It's mostly luck. Well. There's a certain level of skill...or paying attention to the real league that gets you to a point... and then things like A.Luck putting up 2.6 points in the final game can dash all your hopes and hard work. Sorry, Spence.

That's why I won't play for money. You might as well buy a scratch off lottery ticket.

There is a lot of luck, but I was poking around the fantasy site, looking for some big announcement of the winner, and saw that the top two teams had done by far the most player swaps. So the more you pay attention and actively work on your teams, the more likely you are to win.

Wish I could find that page now. It was kind of neat seeing a clear correlation between number of moves, and success.
