Un Fucking Believeable

With my surgery only a few days away, I get a call from the doc saying that I don't have insurance.

More fuck ups from NYS
Lola Bunny • May 14, 2014 11:39 am
What??!!?? Man, that sucks tremendously. I hope things get resolved quickly. Dealing with surgery only is stressful enough.
Gravdigr • May 14, 2014 3:52 pm
So...Do you have insurance?

ETA: I mean, does the insurance company say you have insurance?
monster • May 14, 2014 7:45 pm
probably (?) maybe they mean they can't verify your insurance atm? that's usually what it means when they tell me that... :( totally the suxxors. Hoping you get it sorted out
footfootfoot • May 15, 2014 1:00 pm
It was a major spazz-out on the part of NYS gov. and my insurance carrier. Bureaucracy fest!

Sorted out now.

Surgery still on or rescheduled?
footfootfoot • May 15, 2014 1:11 pm
Still on. I am amped, I think it should be a quicker recovery since the tear is smaller and the surge says he won't have to open me up on this one.

I've got my recovery team set up too. Not sure what I'm going to do for work this summer. (The Cinici gig is still on, but will only be a few weeks)

Hey Foot! How ya doing, man? Did everything go well? Inquiring minds want to know. :D

wss

Thanks guys.

The surgery went well and I think the drugs have finally cleared my system, thought things still taste weird. Their is surprisingly little pain anymore and I can sleep flat on my back, a huge difference from last time.

I see the doc fora post op visit on Thursday and I think he's going to start me with PT right away. This shoulder feels tighter than the other one, that should change after some PT.

I think the shorter surgery time must = less anaesthesia, I felt a lot less out of it, also I didn't start taking the pain meds until well after the nerve block wore off.

I go to school tomorrow. I expect it would be a lot more pleasant if I was still taking the meds though...

peace outside.

Deciding how much anesthesia to give is a highly subjective thing in my experience. I've had everything from YouTube-able delirium for hours, to waking up mid-procedure. Everyone's body processes different drugs at different rates, and the anesthesiologists don't want to admit how much they work by trial-and-error.
Gravdigr • May 26, 2014 1:36 pm
I've heard that redheads (guys & gals) sometimes require more anesthesia (yay, I spelt it right!!) than normal. I know that was the case with Grandmadigr (redhead) when she went for a mastectomy. The docs said they almost gave up trying to knock her out. Ironically, she cannot tolerate pain medications at all, the tiniest dose of any opiate and she goes all loopy.
xoxoxoBruce • May 26, 2014 2:38 pm
Wasn't this on your right side? Then tell your Doc you've started on PT thinking about Cellar ladies.
BigV • May 26, 2014 3:08 pm
One of the possible side effects of such a procedure is ambidicksterity, 50 percent chance.
glatt • May 26, 2014 3:41 pm
Glad it went so well.
xoxoxoBruce • May 26, 2014 3:42 pm
Glatt it went swell?
footfootfoot • May 26, 2014 5:05 pm
The other hand makes me feel like I'm cheating...

That may explain something. Before the procedure they gave me something and I remember dozing off briefly and feeling very lovey-dovey, then snapping out of it and feeling more on the ball but a bit slow. The Anaestitist stoped by and the nurse reported that I'd dozed off for a bit and came back.
I wonder if it was a sort of shot across my bow to see how I'd react.

I also loked at my earlier post and realized that the spelli parotions of my brain are not firing on all 6 syllables.

Glad it went well, foot.
Feel better soon.

Get well soon, Foot.

ok, I'm confused again. people are making references to your recovery with sexual innuendo. I'm just going to blurt it out. Did you have gender reassignment surgery??
xoxoxoBruce • May 31, 2014 1:06 pm
The sexual innuendo refers to which hand he can/will masturbate with.
sexobon • May 31, 2014 2:08 pm
I'm sure that didn't occur to "Big" Sarge 'cause he has to use both hands.

I'm sure you're joking around because it's along the line of how you joke, but it sounds so genuine to me that it cracks me up. :-D

I think this would have been a more interesting thread if it had gone the way I had suggested......I'm glad to see you have a hand on the situation
