A difficult Christian Science Monitor quiz on your knowledge of scientific terms, what they call "Scientific Literacy".

I did poorly on this test, 58, mostly because my chemistry learning knot gud.

My wrong answers were all over the place, mostly in the fine details.

How scientifically literate am I?

Not very ;p

You answered 24 of 50 questions correctly for a total score of 48%

Many were guesses. Others were based on an understanding of language rather than of science.

80%. Irritated at myself for a few of the ones I missed, I should have known them.
fargon • May 4, 2014 3:25 pm
68% Not bad for a River Rat.
Undertoad • May 4, 2014 4:17 pm
84% some good guessing going on
glatt • May 4, 2014 4:47 pm
78%. Irritated at myself for a few of the ones I missed, I should have known them. And I clicked too fast on one without thinking first. If I had slowed down, I would have gotten that one.

Hmmm I stopped learning Chemistry aged 13, let's see shall we...... (because they wouldn't exempt me from experiments with fumes that irritated my asthmas or allow me to wear protective gloves  )

answer: I got bored. I had one wrong out of maybe 14. I'm going to bed
Happy Monkey • May 5, 2014 12:54 am
90%

Missed a couple periodic table location questions, the acceleration calculation, the name of the dwarf planet, and the meaning of nimbus.

Had a 50/50 guess on mitosis/meiosis, and got a couple others by the non-scientific hints in the question.

Ditto, it moved too slowly for me.

It's not my area of expertise, but like HM I was able to pick up some clues in the questions. I had more than one wrong before I quit, but I was surprised by how well I was doing. Just not surprised enough to carry on.

I'm happy with that.

I started off strong like that too. But then it started getting harder for me. YMMV.
footfootfoot • May 5, 2014 9:27 am
Crashed and burned. 62% got a whole mess wrong when I shouldn't have, and had to guess a few.

my mileage didn't notice questions getting harder, but I was running on empty by that point ;)

Thanks to you guys for your tips, take my time, read for contextual clues, pack a lunch, and guess well. I managed to score 88%.

Not bad, a couple of my guesses were wrong. But some were right, too. Fun quiz, thanks!
Gravdigr • May 5, 2014 5:43 pm
I'm doing it.

This should be a catastrophe.
BigV • May 5, 2014 5:47 pm

BigV • May 5, 2014 6:00 pm

Gravdigr • May 5, 2014 7:44 pm
Not a total catpostrophe.

Fairly catastrophic.
monster • May 5, 2014 9:48 pm
ok made it through: 72%, couple of facepalm-stupid errors
