I guess it's true then. People actually eat cats.

Although it may be simpler just to link to the damn site, for those who are into that sort of thing.
Nightsong • Mar 10, 2003 12:18 am
Hey different strokes for different folks, one man's pet is another man's dinner!
wolf • Mar 10, 2003 12:18 am
Don't you have to kill the cat by cutting it's throat straight across rather than drowning it before bleeding it in order for it to be kosher?
Griff • Mar 10, 2003 7:02 am
I don't know from kosher but I do know you've got to bleed 'em out or they taste gamey.

only if I was seriously hungry and only if the little bastard shit in my tub. Then I would assume the little bastard was just taunting me and I'd euthanise him and make some soup.

I like cats but they are annoying as all hell. They can do a lot of those destructive cat things without *really* pissing me off, once they leave a surprise in the tub, I'm pissed. That pisses me off more than running off with my woman.

I really hate when I stumble upon some form of disgusting pic or video. Please put a warning or something, for sanity's sake. (Actually, this pictures doesn't bother me too much, but that picture of an elephant beating the shit out of it's master really freaks me out)
Undertoad • Mar 10, 2003 12:23 pm
CZ, you linked these directly from stileproject, which you probably shouldn't.

Now we have to discuss theft of bandwidth...
russotto • Mar 10, 2003 4:34 pm
Cats do not chew their cud and do not have cloven hooves, and so are not kosher regardless of how you butcher and cook them. Nor are they acceptable under halal rules.
Stress Puppy • Mar 10, 2003 7:29 pm
I would also like to request warnings on shit like that.

I don't really want to get preachy here, but I'm vegan and pictures like that make my stomach clench, then turn.

Might as well be humans.

Count Zero has finally proven that he really has no interest in adding useful dialog to the Cellar; he wants to provoke emotions. The other word for this type of user is <b>troll</b>.

The suggestion that it be a Friday image is ridiculous, and the lack of commentary is indicative of his true motive, which is to shock. To those offended by the images: he's only ever come up with one good one, and that was two years ago. He's probably better suited to your ignore list.

I only checked the comments now... I didn't think this was going to cause such a stir.

Believe me or not, I thought the pics were interesting. I thought that Chinese people eating cats/dogs was only a myth.

And if you replace the cat with some other animal, like a chicken for instance, it wouldn't look so bad. I find that interesting.

I tried to edit the message to remove the direct links but the system didn't let me. I didn't know I shouldn't link directly, Undertoad.

Sorry if anyone got mad or disgusted, but it's no different than what you eat at McDonald's.

And about the Friday Image joke, well, lighten up.

meat is meat.

If you eat meat you had better be prepared to see things like this. No matter if it's a cat, dog, snake, ginuea pig, chicken, cow, or goat (goats are cute too... and some people have them as pets...) it is a food source.

Just because people in the first world don't get exposed to the butchery of an animal doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

Steaks are not grown on styrofoam plates.

I agree that Count Zero should probably have included a warning - but I don't see it as a troll.
Leus • Mar 11, 2003 4:02 pm
I don't mind trolls. Just the inconsiderate ones.
xoxoxoBruce • Mar 11, 2003 9:03 pm
And the French eat horses. So what?
juju • Mar 11, 2003 9:32 pm
I think Denis Leary said it best in No Cure For Cancer:
<blockquote>"I don't want to eat the meat because I love the animals. I love the animals!"

Hey, I love the animals too. I love my doggy. He's so cute! My fluffy little dog.. He's so cute-

But there's the problem. We only want to save the cute animals, don't we? Yeah. Why don't we just have animal auditions, folks? Line 'em up one by one and interview them individually.

"What are you?"
"I'm an otter."
"And what do you do?"
"I swim around on my back and do cute little human things with my hands!"
"You're free to go."
"And what are you?"
"I'm a cow."
"Get in the fucking truck, ok pal!"
"But I'm an animal."
"You're a baseball glove! Get on that truck!"
"I'm an animal, I have rights!"
"Yeah, here's yer fucking cousin, get on the fucking truck, pal!"

Well i've never seen the save-the-ugly-little-amazonian-spider foundation either.
