Arran Distillery (Attn: Limey)

Limey,

I heard there is a whisky distillery on Arran. Have you tried it? What are your thoughts?
limey • Dec 18, 2013 7:10 pm
Yes.
I visit it at least once a year. We always have a bottle or two in the house. "Island" whiskies tend to have a reputation for being "peaty" and "smoky" but the Arran Malts are closer to "highland" whiskies IMHO - light, slightly fruity (but not sweet like a bourbon).
I urge you to find a distributor in your country of residence and buy yourself a bottle for Christmas.

I'll see if I can run some down. Thanks. BTW, Arran has some fascinating history

That's why I like it here.
Well, that and the people.
Well, that and the people and the whisky ... ;)

I am waiting for the urging to take a road/air/ocean trip to Arran.

I need a sweater, at any rate, and I feel the tug of my ancestors at my heart strings...

Plus, Limey looks remarkably like one of my sisters.

Come, Footfootfoot! Ages ago I suggested a Cellar GTG on Arran we have a great wee bunkhouse that'd sleep about a dozen comfortably, 23 maximum. Nearest airports are Glasgow and Prestwick International. Come one, come all!

Road trip!! I call shotgun.

I'll arm-wrestle V for shotgun. I need some Arran whiskey and a gansey.

No shotguns please, we're British.

maybe we could all move in and live with limey? have our own little commune

I'd love to meet limey, and all of our British cellar dwellars. What a fantastic trip that would be. One of these days. :)

I've promised myself to make that trip. If the health holds up, maybe 2014 will be the year. How long would it take me to drive there?
Sundae • Dec 21, 2013 3:31 pm
Fly direct to an English airport. Cheaper.
I'll hire a car and we'll drive to Scotland. I'm not saying we'll stop off at Gretna Green, but we'll have a jolly.

Bri and I made vague plans. Silly things got in the way. Like money and jobs and the rest.
I won't make that mistake again. If someone else is willing to throw caution to the wind it's hardly like I have a pension fund to be worried about.

I meant drive from Mississippi to Scotland. I'm tired of flying
Sundae • Dec 23, 2013 2:31 pm
How about I just drive you crazy then?
Griff • Dec 27, 2013 9:56 am
Here is your solution.

Do you think that will get Sarge across the Atlantic?
Call me an old pessimist, but I have some doubts.
