Flat track motorbikes

One of my fencing buddies was a flat track racer back in the 70's. How he survived I do not know but he did marry a nurse. He posted this film. Wait out the intro, it's worth it. Great music and footage.

To me this is "real" racing. Fixing your own equipment, racing on your own dime,..

...and 'hotfoot'. These are the guys with the steel-soled shoe, are they not? The sole of that shoe gets H.O.T.

Yes, unless the steel plate is embedded in a cast, which I've seen.

I love motorcycles, and I've done some rapid riding, but, I've never had the desire to race, and/or go really fast on one.

Fastest I ever went on a bike was 140 (speedo said 140, anyway), briefly, on a 87 Suzuki 550 LTD (4 cyl, 4 carbs), just to say I done it.

I done it.
