Is anyone else doing Movember for Charity?

richlevy • Oct 22, 2013 10:40 pm
My office is participating in a Movember campaign. Movember is a charity event that started in Australia and donates to men's health issues. All anyone has to do is grow a mustache with or without beard. In my case it means shaving off my beard on Nov 1st and regrowing it over the month. I'll post pictures.

Good for you, Rich. Guys are horrible at drumming up support for our health issues. We just don't try much at all, and don't get any press anyway. And we are the sickly ones, with a shorter life expectancy.

Sisters are leaving us in the dust.

Feeling old and haggish, maybe I'll have a mustache of note by then. I'm in.

My beard is here to stay

I think that awesome you are doing that Rich. mens health issues are addressed to the hilt in this country without having charity events. Women's health has to have these events and sometime we have to tell the guber-mint to get their heads and ultra sound equipment out of our vaginas. :eyebrow:

Agreed, after 44 years I can't just discard it like an ex-wife.;)

I started today. I went to my barber and had the beard and mustache shaved off. Nancy is the 'Queen of the Straight Razor' and everything went bloodlessly.:p:

I did it at lunchtime and when I got back everyone at work says I look ten years younger. My beard is mostly gray but my hair only has gray near the temples.

It's not too late to join in, guys.

Wow, Rich. You do look younger.

Yup... younger. :haha:

RL, do you have a dog or cat ... how did it react ?

The one time I shaved mine years ago, for a couple of days our dog would do
her "stranger-on-the-property" barking until I could get close enough for her nose
to tell her it was just me.

Bruce, thanks for the image. I printed it and posted it at work.

Lamplighter, no dog or cat, but I did go to a place I frequent and the manager there did not appear to recognize me.

Buster, nice image. Coincidentally, while in Vegas last year I bought a clock with a similar theme to replace a broken one in my home office.

Monster, no thanks.

Glatt and Bruce, people keep telling me that but I'm still growing it back.

Here's my midway photo.

I prefer the hirsute look.
