Bob Edwards just said, "The removal of a tax break is often chacterized as a tax increase."

I haven't listened to NPR this week...been catching up with CBC Radio One. Although, last week on the Kojo Nnamdi Show on WAMU, they had the head of this group on there that is advocating the release of all non-violent offenders from the Maryland prison system (to help ease the state's budget crisis). I personally thought that was a great idea, but I don't see that one flying.

Anne Geralds describing the folks who attended some meeting in Iraq. "overweight bureacrats"

She really painted a picture and a mood with her words. Stay safe Anne we need journalists willing to report what they see. Maybe when you get home you could report on the "Pocket Caligulas" in our Congress. Damn, wouldn't that be refreshing.

It was supposed to be a Ba'ath Party meeting, but sounded more like some surreal pep rally. What was that on, Griff? I don't remember now...I thought it was on "Talk of the Nation."

Man, poor Kojo had some stupid motherfuckers calling in today. Some guy called in and said he had done work at the State Dept. and the DOD, and that he knew "darned good and well" that martial law would be imposed here in the US. Goddamnit...that's the kind of shit I expect on Rush Limbaugh or Michael Smerconish. Not a slightly-left call in show on an NPR affiliate.

Have you ever listened to Rush? You expect him to be saying that martial law will be effected here in the U.S.?

Rush refers to that sort of suggestion as someone from the "black helicopter crowd" and shuts them off quick.

And NO, I didnt call him and he didn't shut me off quick. :)

Understand...I find Rush and Smerconish to be kooks. Hence, I expect kooky comments to be on their shows (more Smerconish than Rush, admittedly).

It was "Morning Edition." The reporter was Anne Garrels.
