Bill: usually if a thread is going to open up with something you wouldn't want to be viewing at work or with kids about (lots of people access the cellar from home computers where the family are around) we stick 'nsfw' in the title.
There are lots of things in the Cellar that would not be allowed on a lot of other sites. Right down to full frontals and almost penetration shots of dwellars. It's just a courtesy to other members to make sure that accidental viewing of such things is kept to a minimum. Easily done with a video because people can choose whether or not to click the play button. Bit more difficult to do with a gif if there's no warning in the thread title.
As a general rule nudity, voluble swearing and violent imagery are labelled nsfw, in the thread title if opening the thread will bring that up on your screen, or with a nsfw tag before the video or link if clicking is required.

When you were a kid seeing that video for the first time, I'm sure it was shown in some context. A news anchor lead up to the clip by talking about what it was about, and probably warned the audience that it would be graphic. The way you posted the video, with no context, and no warning, it is a snuff video. You were looking for a reaction. People were upset seeing a deer get shot in the head last week, so you thought you would crank it up a bit by posting a human getting shot in the head this week.
BTW, the video did not win a prize. The still photograph did. And the two are VERY different from one another and filmed by different people. It never would have occurred to me to delete the iconic photograph.

Hunh... dr jinx had diagnosed me with that particular disorder. She had herself so convinced of it that I took it very seriously. I dunno....maybe.... I DID consider that at the time.
I have some of the traits, ...she has some of the traits as well... the part where the NPD person shuts the person who is no longer useful to them out completely. The part where she is smarter than everyone she has ever met..... yeah.. those I see. but she followed rules, has empathy, etc. She's just as sane as anyone. A bit introverted and pessimistic, but I can't say she's got any real disorder.
I just think she stopped seeing the good in me. I was not innocent. I did overspend, and allow her to as well... I snuck food.... I did a lot of things I wanted to do behind her back because I didn't want to have the fights. because I ALWAYS lost them. She would just escalate into the realms of the ridiculous, and I would always end up apologizing. Except that one time in May. That time I stood my ground and refused to let up. I have no idea what it was even about by now. I guess I knew it was fucked at that point, but didn't admit it to myself.
When you look at each thing individually, they were trifling things. ...except for the money.... but she couldn't forget anything, so she never truly forgave anything. Every time I did some new stupid thing, the whole bucket of misdeeds got dumped over my head. And I mean she brought 14 year old things up.
But then again... I knew that about her.. I repeatedly promised to stop doing those things... and would behave for a time.... but eventually, the immature, impulsive, pleasure seeker would escape in me. (Those were the things the Shrink said I needed to work on) She got so frustrated, that it became a deal breaker for her... and I just didn't realize how close to the precipice we were. Until one Tuesday night, she told me in an email that she wanted me to move out for a while. It was about 8:30, and I was stuck here at work with 2 more deals to do. I went numb, my feet got cold..... I barely remember it. Shocked me to the core. She had apparently been steeling her nerve for months at least.
I wish she had just not surprised me with the whole thing. I was in such a tail spin for 3 months after moving out, that I ruined any chance of us dissolving things amicably. She tried to help 'get me help' in the beginning, but when the shrinks disagreed with her, she started moving her boundaries outward. By now she simply ignores any email or text i send that is not specifically about the kids' visitation schedule. It's a fucking shame. She was my best friend ever, and I miss her still. I don't see it ever getting better though. What love she had left for me has morphed into hate, I'm sure. Everything I say is a lie, etc.

I'm sorry she couldn't stay on here, too. She had friends here, and was a much more thoughtful and informative poster than I. There's just no way of ignoring me if she reads this site though. I don't even worry about her doing vanity searches at this point.
Our divorce is still not final, but I hope to have it completed by the end of this year. It would be SO much easier if she would talk to me... but that's just not gonna happen.

Jim, I liked reading your posts about it. I like how you've got good perspective about it all, looking back. I think you're a good guy, and while I know you miss her, I think it's her loss.

The Ten minute a day thing is tonys perception of how long it took me to stop at McDonald's for breakfast when I was supposed to be on a diet. I work 12 hr days, minimum. Usually more like 14. And in those days had 3 hours of commuting along with it.

@ Bill: this is just the way threads work around here. I know on a lot of forums thread drift is something that isn't really wanted (I visit a few where the mods will actually post to bring the thread back on topic if it happens), but here threads drift a lot. It's like a conversation in a room full of people. One person may start talking about something and a few others will join in and then the conversation takes a different direction and soon we're talking about something completely unrelated to the original topic.
Or, that conversation will continue with half the people having a secondary conversation alongside :p

Amanda was initially amazed at how domesticated and well trained I was. I put the toilet seat down, I take out the trash without being asked, I do my own laundry, etc. I gotta say I owe that stuff to jinx. She was my Petty Tyrant. She pushed me. She kept my ego in check for years, and then at the end, humbled me to the point that I think I actually AM more empathetic and sympathetic towards other people. You have to go through some rough shit of your own sometimes before you can really relate to other people's struggles.
I am still arrogant, still immature and impulsive. .. but I don't really want to change that. I put googly eyes on street signs at 43 yrs old ffs. I'm not afraid of life, or being poor. I'm not opposed to hard work, or being alone. .. I can be happy regardless. At this point, I'm in a sweet spot. I see the kids and Amanda twice a week. I live minutes from work instead of hours.... The hours still suck, but at least I'm making decent money again. I have 2 motorcycles (one for sale if anyone is interested), and local buddies to ride with.
There are some challenges, but I'm dealing. I think I've even mostly let go of the resentment I felt toward Shelby for jumping ship when things got rough. I don't know what was in her mind, but clearly the future she saw coming was not acceptable, so she took steps to change it.
From my pov back then I thought it was betrayal. Now that I look at it from her angle, it kind of seems brave. She saw the financial hole we were in, my 300lb ....heart attack waiting to happen, fat self and my refusal to stick to the plan. So she gave me the boot.
I think where she went really wrong was her methods of trying to change the situation. She just kept heaping the pressure onto my shoulders, bitching about what I wasn't doing and waving generic cereal boxes in my face, instead of putting the kids in public school, quitting the $350/mo gym and getting a job. Maybe then she would have had less time to dwell on how life was less than perfect. ... and gained some small insight on what I was dealing with working the hours I do. ...hmmmm... there's that resentment again. Sorry. Oh, well. hindsight.
But, yeah. ...Starting over at 38. blowing it all up. No career, no friends, or marketable skills.... Kind of brave.
Her family is awesome and v supportive, so she's not alone. .. she even has a boyfriend now, and the kids like him, so I like him. . even though I'll probably never meet him. ... so, anyway ... she's fine too. I hope that some day she will start to let go her resentment for the stupid shit I did, and that we can get along as co-parents if not friends.
