The Geese are leaving :(

I just heard the geese overhead. The first sign my life is about to change, is the geese flying south. It's time to drag out the winter coat, mitts, shovel etc. The most cringe-worthy word describing winter has got to be 'wind chill'. Who cares if it's -10 degrees Celcius-what's the wind-chill?

PDX is overrun with Canadian geese, and in some places it is slippier than goose grease.

PDX's geese are assertive, aggressive, and beligerent.
They stand in the street and dare you to drive over them.

Maybe you could arrange for some of the Oregon birds to fly east
instead of over-wintering in the Willamette Valley.

Environment Canada is well aware of concerns raised by the geese population in this country. They go on to list in varying degrees, frustrations various groups have had with droppings, aggressive behavior at airports, golf courses and offer information on how to 'manage' your situation.

I doubt they knew in 1916, what a mess they were creating for future generations. I say have an open season.

I'm doing my part by cooking a goose for dinner tonight. But the label says it's from South Dakota, not Canada.

Yes it's about time since teal are migrating here through Texas. We have a special early teal season but I hate hunting when the mosquito are so bad and you really have to watch out for snakes.

By mid October we will have waves of white fronted geese arriving and then the snows and blues followed by canadas and then sand hill cranes. All make for tasty eating.
