I think if we have new players, I will need to increase the number of teams. If you were a member last year, you just need to log in and set your Draft preferences.

Clod?
Glatt?
Zippy?

Amanda and Spencer are in.

I think I have a cow orker that could fill a spot, but I'd rather add 2 teams this season.

He about you, bigV?
jimhelm • Aug 12, 2013 12:15 am
I set the draft for auto draft random order, snake pattern... which means that 30 minutes before draft, the computer will assign a draft order. Once the order is determined, the first team will draft it's first ranked player...then 2nd...down to last...then the last team goes again, and it goes back up the list and back and forth in that pattern. That seems to be the most fair way.

I let the points system I set up last year carry over... did any one have any objections to the way that worked last year?

>>>>>DRAFT DAY IS FRIDAY AUGUST 23RD<<<<<<<

log in and set your draft rankings....or let the guru do it for you. I had terrible luck last year setting my own order. I'm going to either very carefully and soberly set mine, or just let the defaults ride. It took me half the season last year to get my team competitive.
glatt • Aug 12, 2013 9:04 am
I'm in, I think. I kept getting errors, but it they said things like I was already in. So I think I'm in. Am I in? I'm going with the default rankings for the draft, so I assume I do little until after the draft and I see how things look for that first game.

I *know* about football, I get it, I just don't follow it. I'll be relying heavily on the wizards and defaults and auto-fill helpers in the system. Also, stuff that I see in the news, friendly (and unfriendly) tips from others, and random, crazy ivans will figure prominently in the "management" of my team.

It'll be fun... to watch... like a chain reaction smashup on the freeway, just with less blood. :3_eyes:
lumberjim • Aug 12, 2013 1:58 pm
Excellent!
lumberjim • Aug 12, 2013 2:47 pm
I updated the league name and divisions. It is cellar13. We now have 12 teams in 3 divisions: Earth, Wind and Fire.

If you still see 2 divisions, funky groovy, log out and back in.

Clod! You're in unless you say otherwise. Please confirm.

glatt • Aug 12, 2013 10:03 pm
Ooh, I was counting on them being last. Maybe my guys will take that slot.
lumberjim • Aug 23, 2013 7:23 am
Teams are drafted! Tony cheated again, and got P Manning AND Brees. Dickhole.

I have no good WR, as usual. One good RB. Anyone that wants or needs a qb, I will trade Flacco or Schaub for a #1 WR/RB
lumberjim • Aug 23, 2013 7:30 am
Zippy has a good team. As does clobble.
glatt • Aug 23, 2013 8:57 am

He's the best of my benched WRs.

lumberjim • Sep 4, 2013 5:18 pm
Shaw,

I see that you are starting Tuel as a qb. I saw on nfl channel today that he will not play. The bills are starting e j Manuel.

Fyi
infinite monkey • Sep 4, 2013 10:27 pm
thanks man. i am in a fog until the season gets going. i appreciate the tip, especially seeing that you're my opponent this week. i will try to check it. :)
lumberjim • Sep 5, 2013 9:22 am
You gotta watch that guru.

I had hester, and he was projected to get 19 points. ... but you read the analysis, c and it says he will only do returns, no receiving. I offed him.
infinite monkey • Sep 5, 2013 1:17 pm
I tend to look at projected points, and I see that they are still listing Tuel with like 30 points. I followed the guru but my projected total went down.

So, basically, I'm not sure I understand where they are getting the projected points from.

For example they said start Bernard (and I'm glad to just because I love the name Giovani) and bench Ponder but Ponder's projected points are 14 and Bernard's are 4.

Sigh...I guess I'll see soon if Imma love the guru or hate the guru. Other players...what say you?
Undertoad • Sep 5, 2013 1:21 pm
Hate the guru. I think the guru uses the standard lig* point system and not the system that James has put in place for our lig.

*Philly pronunciation of "league"
infinite monkey • Sep 5, 2013 1:28 pm
Well then I don't know how I fill about changing playas. Which is the rill dill? ARGH.

You know, I was first place last year in whatever they called moving players around (managing?) and maybe I should stick with my gut.

no, it uses our scoring with the stats it thinks they will achieve.

quarterbacks don't score 40+ points in most leagues.

shaw, this is what I saw:

http://helmwelchcini.league.fantasy.nfl.com/league/445717/players/news

EJ Manuel named as the starter. unless he gets hurt early, Tuel is a bench rider this week.
infinite monkey • Sep 5, 2013 5:37 pm
Yeah, i didn't know that either before you told me. thanks!

of course it's all part of the game. using the available resources to make choices that may or may not pay off is the point!

good luck everybody!
jimhelm • Sep 5, 2013 10:03 pm
what the crap. jacoby just got blasted by his own teammate. looks hurt too
Undertoad • Sep 6, 2013 2:48 am
I don't really even have the energy to say boo yah but it appears Mr. P. Manning has set me up with 105 points on opening day. Sorry Amanda!

Mr. Manning was 27 of 42 for 462 yards with seven touchdowns, which nobody has done in 44 years, and no INTs.

~

I can't believe there is a player named I. Pead. How much shit do you think he's gotten over the years?
Griff • Sep 6, 2013 6:28 am

Nice Demaryius, though.
lumberjim • Sep 6, 2013 4:59 pm
Yeah. Nice. Real nice.

Hopefully, Romo will also throw 7 touchdowns. ... that would be cool.
infinite monkey • Sep 8, 2013 3:48 pm
I'm sure he will.

Meanwhile, Ponder is sitting at 28 pts, while the guy i replaced him with has 4 pts.

I really hope I win anyway.
lumberjim • Sep 9, 2013 8:10 am
I think I've got you this week Shaw.
infinite monkey • Sep 9, 2013 8:42 am

I need to shrpen up my team. i never left points on the bench like that last year. that was why i got that damn coaxhing recognition. :)
Clodfobble • Sep 9, 2013 11:20 am
Hey, I think I won last week! I won last week, right? I got 190 points, which seems really high to me, but fuck if I know.
glatt • Sep 9, 2013 11:31 am

Griff • Sep 9, 2013 6:00 pm

glatt • Sep 9, 2013 9:32 pm
I've been watching off and on tonight. It's painful.
glatt • Sep 12, 2013 9:22 am
How come in the game center, the little write up about my team says I still need to fill one empty position? I thought I had them all filled. I checked other teams too, and everyone still has to fill one empty position.

What am I missing? Is that just some glitch to be ignored?
jimhelm • Sep 12, 2013 10:34 am
the latter, I think. I don't know when those 'articles' are written. Might have been generated while you were in the midst of adjusting your lineup.
Undertoad • Sep 12, 2013 10:52 am
Is it the RES spot? Because I couldn't do anything with the spot until my star RB has now broken his wrist and is on the IR for the next 10 weeks. He's in my RES spot.
infinite monkey • Sep 12, 2013 12:07 pm
It's all effed up: your defense is empty. No, it's not, I just traded it and added it and it shows on my list. I don't remember it being confusing any of the other years. I didn't exactly want to go to college to figure out how to manage my team...I was sort of thinking that having a pretty decent knowledge of the game itself would be helpful...never mind that I may be loyal to players who are not in my best interest. Where the fuck is that Jimmy the Greek guy?

I got a fuck whore team anyway...pretty sneaky sis.

And wtf? Ponder's showing 0 projected points but it doesn't say he's not playing.

Meh.
glatt • Sep 12, 2013 1:26 pm
*chuckle* tell us how you really feel!

Yeah, I don't care for the new look. And it is a little confusing. I wondered about that 0 points thing too, for one of my guys.
infinite monkey • Sep 12, 2013 3:19 pm
I don't know what it is, but it's seems differnt this year. I might understand the rules and the penalties and the plays and stuff like "you should try for a home run if it's like, 4th and inches" but I'm not all algorithmically inclined. I grew up living and breathing the best game on earth, but this is beyond me. I know it's just for funsies but I'm naturally competitive and I'm realizing the FF league has moved beyond my realm. I'd never make it in the big leagues, where folks pay a bunch of money and study the stats and projections. I don't mind losing but i really hate being the complete moron. ;)

Perhaps my current temperament and state of fog is confusing me.
BigV • Sep 12, 2013 3:33 pm
the study of the stats and money, etc. is the main premise of the movie Moneyball starring Brad Pitt. I enjoyed the movie immensely.
infinite monkey • Sep 12, 2013 3:40 pm
I saw that available for sale, and on sale as a 'used' copy and I'd really like to see it. I'll go look for it again.
jimhelm • Sep 12, 2013 3:44 pm
there do seem to be a lot of sneaky tabs at the tops of frames that change the view..... like the game center: I'm used to going there and seeing my guys on the left, my opponent on the right... this year, I go there, and by default, I see the newspaper article thing... I have to go to the 'simple box score' tab to see it the way I like.
infinite monkey • Sep 12, 2013 3:46 pm
I'll look for that, thanks! :)
glatt • Sep 12, 2013 3:52 pm
Seems like the available players suck more this year too. Or maybe I didn't snatch up the good ones fast enough.
infinite monkey • Sep 12, 2013 3:56 pm
I think I was a bad drafter. It all sort of fell into place in previous years: not stellar teams but not gawdawful teams either.

It's my fault for being a draft dodger.

Of course it's way early in the season and a lot can happen. Hone. I shall hone my team.

GO RATS!

(Besides, my helmet is the coolest, thanks to jim.) :)
jimhelm • Sep 12, 2013 4:32 pm
yours IS the coolest.

there are 2 more teams this year, and we have 2 more starting spots than most leagues, so our rosters are larger.

bye weeks make for change. be patient. it's a long season.
lumberjim • Sep 13, 2013 9:58 am
Nice move grabbing eddelman, tone. He's the only one that can catch on the Pats this year, it seems. 13 catches? Nice.

I was gonna grab him, but I went with hankerson. Seemed like rg3 likes him. I also picked up geno Smith last week. Boy. He sucks.
Undertoad • Sep 13, 2013 10:55 am
Yeah it turns out all the Pats' TEs are banged up right now so they are limited on personnel with good hands.

If I win this week, I'ma win out, so you people got to start hating on me ASAP.

Gino Smith could still come around... first few games of the season are always weird
glatt • Sep 13, 2013 10:59 am
Yay! I got an award!

"The Week 1 Poor Lineup Decisions Trophy goes to Ruff Riders for leaving 136.2 points on the bench."
infinite monkey • Sep 13, 2013 11:12 am
No WAY! That beats even ME!

I still don't know about Ponder. He's an enigma, a mystery wrapped in pigskin. I mean...who really IS this "Ponder"?

I guess I'll keep him. Remaining QBs are all like Pollyanna Pancake and Little Lord Fauntleroy, and they just don't sound like good picks.
Griff • Sep 13, 2013 7:43 pm

iggles v chefs

are you ready?
lumberjim • Sep 22, 2013 11:45 pm
I think you've got me this week, Griff. 5.3 points will probably not be enough to hold off your TE, with Peyton throwing to him.

Btw, Antonio Brown is an asshole.
Griff • Sep 23, 2013 6:30 am
He'll be glad to hear that. :) He is the only badass left on the Steelers now. Gonna be a long winter. Thomas better have some yardage, otherwise leaving 30 TE points on the bench doesn't look so smrt. I just have a hard time believing in a Brown. Looks like your wideouts are letting you down.
lumberjim • Sep 23, 2013 8:11 am
Yeah. .. Chris Johnson hasn't exactly been lighting it up either. I picked the wrong packer wr this week, and was thinking about starting santonio Holmes, but. .. he's a jet.... hindsight.

There was an option this year where you could sub one player after the games were played but I didn't select that. I thought about it, but then some of us don't really pay that close attention to it during the season, and I thought that might cause some bad mojo.
glatt • Sep 23, 2013 8:32 am

That might have helped me. I left a ton of points on the bench again this week. I suck at picking these guys. But I'm a hell of a lot better than the Guru.
Griff • Sep 24, 2013 6:59 am
I think the bench is part of what makes it interesting. Committing to a player based on your gut instinct about how their team matches up adds some tension to the day. Of course my gut says Cleveland sucks so I'll overcome that and play the TE just in time for that house of cards to fall.
lumberjim • Sep 24, 2013 10:30 am
The guru is especially wacky this week. Projecting 14 points for jacoby Jones, who is injured, and 15.6 for Romo, who should light the chargers up for 50+. Also, my kicker, henery slated for 21, has averaged 8.3 per game through 3 games.

Good close game, Griff. It's amazing how close these games have been, given our unconventional scoring system.

infinite monkey • Oct 1, 2013 10:37 am
you pulled it out though.

I got 2 awards this week:

The Black Flag award for outscoring my projected points by 180.8.

And the Most Satisfying Player for starting Phillip Rivers.

I'm bragging because it's been so long since I've done anything right (not just FF I'm talking about) I thought I'd take a sec and revel in these small and irrelevent accomplishments. Better than a kick in the pants. ;)

But I need to keep on it because Spence is slated to beat me this week by a kajillion points!

My kicker only got me 5 more points! I can only blame my loss on blatant nepotism on the part of the judges.

(Nice job, Amanda! ;))
lumberjim • Oct 1, 2013 1:18 pm
She only left 7 points on the bench, too. That will boost her coach rating.
lumberjim • Oct 4, 2013 12:36 am
Shaw, your luck continues. ... your qb tore his knee up last night. Looked serious.

Weeden came in and got the win, but he looked shaken. Buffalo has a pretty aggressive pass rush, and he was constantly running away from, but right AT the pursuit. .. like a cat in a room full of rocking chairs. Then again. ... he does throw deep to Josh Morgan... maybe he just wasn't ready because he got no reps. He was just coming off an ankle injury, so he probably hadn't taken a snap for 3 weeks.

EJ Manuel got hurt too. Also a knee. His was hyper extended and twisted, but I think Hoyer tore ligaments. (Season ender)

So, your boy Tuel might be a good acquisition. Depends on how long EJ will rehab. Or Weeden if you think he'll settle down after a long week following the Thurs game. The available qbs all blow.

Who had EJ?
lumberjim • Oct 4, 2013 12:44 am

Clod, I just realized that your tight end is on injured reserve. That probably means he is out for the year. You need to get a new one. You could keep Owen Daniels in your reserve spot. I don't know if he's coming back.

Close game. Two of my guys got hurt early in the games.

This game is as complicated and time consuming as you are willing to make it. I thought I was being all smart when I dropped one poor player and replaced him with someone who had really been on the rise, points wise. And it wasn't until after the trade was processed that I realized that the reason the new guy had been on the rise was that his teammate was injured, and so he was getting play time. Teammate just got better, and so my new guy is back to the bench, and worthless to me. You have to read EVERYTHING.
infinite monkey • Oct 14, 2013 9:23 am
I liken setting up your team each week to practicing in real sports. If your team is lazy at 'practice' then you shouldn't win (leaving injured players in, players with byes that week, etc.)

Which is, of course, different than 'practicing' but overlooking a key element in your practices, as glatt pointed out you can miss so much, and things turn on a dime. This is where 'skill' (i.e. paying attention) can help but you can't foresee everything. To me, this is what makes it challenging and fun.

As a 'coach' I wouldn't advise another coach to watch their roster AFTER my team has played them. Seems sneaky. However, seems fair this week to say BigV watch your roster next week for injured reserves and byes. I need to get ahead of certain teams in overall points, and your participation next week could help me in this matter. Thanks buddy (does that clicky noise winky thing.) Good game this week though you didn't practice much. ;)
Griff • Oct 14, 2013 9:27 am
I like the random element of the thing. Even if you take the time to set things up, the real life coach may want to get a different player going and just like that you're out in the cold.
infinite monkey • Oct 14, 2013 9:30 am
it was fun for me when i picked up Hoyer and he performed so well then BOOM...he's hurt and out! (Not fun when a player gets hurt, maybe fun wasn't the right word.)

Clod, I just realized that your tight end is on injured reserve. That probably means he is out for the year. You need to get a new one. You could keep Owen Daniels in your reserve spot. I don't know if he's coming back.

I just proposed a trade if Clod is interested.

Yeah, when a low expectation guy starts rocking it its pretty cool... until he gets hurt.

Trade accepted! Pleasure doing business with you. Sorry I've been on low-internet since we've been traveling, I have actually been making an effort to play for real this season. Thanks for the heads up about the IR designation, I didn't know what that meant. I'll try to remember to get my injured guy off my lineup once I'm allowed to touch it again.

Ha Ha Ha.

I had to take a screen shot of this. Guru, you suck!

See, what's going to happen is the Dolphins defense is going to strip the quarterback of the ball on every single play and take it for a touchdown. And they are going to do that like 20 times during the game.
lumberjim • Oct 15, 2013 10:21 am
And 5 other teams are going to do even better!

Undertoad • Oct 15, 2013 12:39 pm
O how the mighty have fallen. My TE turned in the worst performance of the year and the Barking Toads lost to Troop, who had three players out!
lumberjim • Oct 15, 2013 12:44 pm
The shockwaves of this are undoubtedly to blame for the guru's math errors.

They seem to have been corrected by now. .. but it made for a good indicator of how little heed we should pay to it.
glatt • Oct 17, 2013 9:00 am
Who is P-Zone817?

They have two holes in their team. Need to switch QBs at a minimum.
lumberjim • Oct 17, 2013 10:57 pm
That's Carmen. I told him. Should be fixed now.

V, your team needs attention. Vick is not playing this week. Neither is that RB on the Giants.
infinite monkey • Oct 18, 2013 11:20 am
I keep tweaking my team: if the projections are close, Clod and I will be fighting quite the battle. It will be a matter of individuals performing slightly better or slightly worse than projected (barring, gawd forbid, injuries.)

This will be a fun sunday for me...a frantic refresh of the nfl site, and watching for my specific players' moves! Probably a bit of yelling at the TV. GAWD i love football!

Good luck, Clodfobble! :)

Should have kept my mouth shut. It's going to be a close game now.

43 points seems pretty optimistic when he averages 7.5 points per game and his peak was 10.

Plus he has that huge tumor on the side of his head.

Me too! I'm going to the Cowboys game. I met Amanda 2 years ago on October 30th at the Cowboys eagles game. This time I scored tickets in the ABC box though!

Pretty good anniversary date, huh?

That's cool, Jim!

I am of the envy...and how cool you and Amanda can enjoy football together.

Can you believe i have never been to a pro football game? I've seen the crap out of the redlegs, and the redwings, and many various college football and basketball events...but never pro football. It's on my bucket list (doable since i did a lot of bucket list things when i was young and didn't need nor know about bucket lists! Surely I can get tix next year for a bengals game!)

I think he's smarter than that!

Goats vs Spaghetti Monsters is another fight to the death.
lumberjim • Oct 21, 2013 10:12 am
yeah, wow. his Tight end vs your kicker, DP and a 4 point lead.

I think you'll edge him out... but I will watch the game. Spencer will too.

meanwhile, Amanda has a 30 point lead on TROOP, who has Adrian Peterson yet to play. THAT should be another nail biter.

PZone needs nearly 60 points out of Eli Manning to catch up with glatt. it can be done... he's scored that many before (80 actually) but that was a shoot out against Dallas in week one. since then, he's looked like shit.
lumberjim • Oct 21, 2013 10:16 am
Big V, and blue curacao are clearly not paying attention to their teams. that kind of sucks. c'mon you guise. if you're not interested in playing, let me know and I will try to replace you.
glatt • Oct 21, 2013 10:18 am
I'm taking nothing for granted tonight. Manning can really do great things. He can also fizzle. We'll see.

It's just ironic that I benched RG3 after several weeks of slowly declining performance, and he played his best game all season.
Griff • Oct 22, 2013 6:31 am
Wow Spencer. Good one right down to the wire.
jimhelm • Oct 22, 2013 8:32 am
Omg, Josh Freeman was horrible. Really really bad. It was like the ball was full of helium.
infinite monkey • Oct 22, 2013 10:20 am
This week will suck, as Rivers is on bye and of course I'm playing Toad and his Manning. Bullies get lucky and get to play Toad and his Manning on Manning's bye week.

I've no doubt Toad can overcome the Bullsies, even without Manning. This week, I suspect my ass will be grass.
Undertoad • Oct 22, 2013 10:39 am
Don't assume!! I have many guys on Bye other than Manning and I'm having to rehaul the team due to too many of my non-QB players going into suck mode.
Griff • Oct 22, 2013 10:02 pm
Yeah, I've got like 5 guys on byes this week. Every week is a crap shoot.
lumberjim • Oct 23, 2013 12:58 pm
This is the part of the season that separates the people that watch Football from those that don't. Lots of injuries happening, bye weeks... people have to drop guys. For me, this is the most fun part. I love hunting for that guy that will step into a slot because the starter got nicked. I did it last week, when I got the WR, douglas, on the falcons because white and jones are both hurt.

I didn't start him though, because I'm a homer and I WANTED Austin to have a big game. .. and I WANTED to be there to see it. THAT'S motivated reasoning, tw. I got the win anyway because V is asleep at the wheel, but douglas scored 32.90 on my bench.

I got Cole Beasley to replace Austin. I see him becoming a Wes Welker type of slot receiver.
glatt • Oct 23, 2013 1:02 pm
I gave up on a couple of my gimps getting better, and am happy with the guys I picked up as well. We'll see. The guru thinks Clodfobble is in great shape this week. But I think I have a chance.

BigV • Oct 27, 2013 6:24 pm
Yep, that's me. I've looked but still don't really know how to make changes, ND I know even less about what would be a good move. Like lj said not all of us watch football.
infinite monkey • Oct 28, 2013 12:35 pm
Yeah, that sucked ass. I know I got my QB and a (probable, still) WR to go, but they ain't gonna net me 121.3 points.

UT is kickin' ass and takin' tickets.
Undertoad • Oct 28, 2013 1:21 pm
Guru strikes again?
glatt • Oct 28, 2013 1:26 pm
I was expecting RG3 to do more for me than 10 points. It's a rough game. I hope he comes back next week. Clodfobble should beat me easily, unless her QB gets injured as well.
glatt • Oct 29, 2013 2:27 pm
I just got around to checking the how the game ended up. I can't believe it.

I squeaked by with a margin of victory of nine tenths of a point.

Hanging out in the hospital with FIL watching the Redskins game. It's really quiet here. Then RG3 just made a nice run, and there's hooting and hollering up and down the hallway. Guess we're not the only ones watching the game.

lumberjim • Nov 4, 2013 11:33 am
it's not just you, bro.

I REALLY thought Murray was the play this week...and Chris Johnson has done fuck all this season....so natch, murray = 11, CJ = 36 this week. And i can't afford to fuck about. Ute had a strong showing....and based on what goes down tonight ( we each have 2 guys to play) it might be to difference between a W and an L.

I NEED to stay ahead of the toads going into to playoffs. I can't handle him when he has Manning.
glatt • Nov 4, 2013 11:41 am

Undertoad • Nov 4, 2013 12:11 pm
I think you have this one James, like 80% chance... the X factor is that my Bears' WR Alshon Jeffrey always has the potential to be a beast. But GB is favored by 10 1/2 in a high-scoring game, that's the thing. Unless Rodgers gets banged up in the first half...
lumberjim • Nov 4, 2013 12:26 pm
I spoke to bluecuracao via facebook over the weekend... she says she's been busy, but will try to get her act together.

I thought Amanda was going to catch Shaw last night... Andre Johnson was going crazy in the first half. He had 57 points in the first half...... AND THEN HIS HEAD COACH COLLAPSED ON THE SIDELINE!

she actually got within 5 points of Shaw before TY Hilton caught his OWN 3 touchdowns and put up 51 points for her....so now, the Chasers need 35 points out of Brandon Marshall to tie it. it could happen.

Tonya, is that you?
lumberjim • Nov 8, 2013 11:59 pm
Tony admitted to me privately that he used a voodoo doll to take Aaron Rogers out last Sunday. He also confessed to using over $1300 in tip mug funds to purchase a piece of his hair from George Wendt.

And, although that paragraph is a complete fabrication, it's an example of just how far he is willing to go in order to assure his complete and utter domination this year. More lies in that sentence. The point of which are to create a villainous light and shine it upon him. I'm hoping that you'll skim this post and miss the small parts where I declaim my own accusations. So, with that in mind, I will tell you a couple more lies in the following paragraph. Hoping that you'll skip the long one in the middle. Even if you do read the whole post, maybe the shadow of the allegations will tarnish his sterling reputation.

He also tried to bribe me with access to all of the private messages sent by all of you kind folks. I, of course, declined. And not just because I already have access to that boring stack of hooey. Well, it's mostly boring. The stuff going back and forth between sundae and sarge is ...um.... well... I'm sure you can imagine.

I signed Seneca Wallace to replace the injured Rogers.

So, either Tony did it to me again this week out of spite, or karma did it because I told lies about him. ...or, as unlikely as this sounds, what we do or say has fuck all to do with what transpires on the field in Green Bay. I know. Ridiculous, but possible.

either way, Wallace just got hurt after one drive. Don't know if he will return. ... The sissy. RUB SOME DIRT ON IT AND GET YOUR ASS BACK IN THERE!!

It sure wasn't a blowout.

I had to laugh seeing that Carson Palmer netted me 76 points (I just picked him up because no one knew if Ponder would even play)...the Bengals fans in my family scoffed at Palmer being in my second quarterback position. Good job, Rats!
Clodfobble • Dec 2, 2013 7:07 pm
Gah! If I hadn't benched Brandon Weeden, I would have won. Sooo many points left on my bench this week, dammit. I have one QB left to play tonight, so it's still technically possible I could eke this one out past Troop. But what are the chances that all three of my QB's earn over 60 points in the same week? I'm betting no.
lumberjim • Dec 2, 2013 9:14 pm
It could happen. Wilson hasn't scored 75 all year, but it could happen. If it turns into a shootout. .. and with the Saints, it just might.
lumberjim • Dec 2, 2013 10:10 pm
If it keeps on at the current pace, you probably will win. Just have to watch Jimmy Graham on the Saints. This game will decide your division title. You would both have a six and seven record, but I think you would win the tiebreaker Clodfobble.
lumberjim • Dec 2, 2013 11:56 pm
Well, he scored 69. Looked awesome doing it, too.

It was almost enough,... but Mr Graham put 13 points up.

The Sea hawks were amped. They pulled the Saints' shirts up over their heads and pummeled them gleefully for 60 minutes.

impressive
lumberjim • Dec 2, 2013 11:58 pm
They did to the Saints what the saint's did to the Cowboys a couple of weeks ago.

Watching the post game show, the nfl guys (young, dilfer, Ray Lewis) are all excited. They can't use enough analogies, yelling over the ends of each others'sentences, gesticulating, etc. They REALLY enjoyed the game.

This was, quite likely, a preview of the NFC championship game. If it is, the Saints better have home field somehow. ... cuz the 12th man in Seattle is v. Formidable.

lumberjim • Dec 4, 2013 6:29 am
you're just on a bye week, bud.

You're the 2nd tallest midget in the circus, as it were.

There are 2 brackets now. Championship and Consolation. The best 2 teams from each have a bye this week. So, Tony and Shaw have no game this week, and You and PZone (Carmen).

As I recall, the losers play each other too, so don't quit on it if you lose your first playoff round. And remember that the final game is divided into NFL weeks 16 & 17.

I have to beat Amanda this week in order to get a rematch with UT. Aaron Fucking Rogers better do a collar bone double check and get his candy ass back on the field.
Griff • Dec 4, 2013 6:38 am
Ha! love that line.
glatt • Dec 4, 2013 9:12 am
I'm ready, I think. It's going to be a close one with Troop. Could go either way.

Biggest decision, as always, is looking into the old crystal ball and trying to figure out if Griffin is going to have one of his 10 point games or a 50 point game. Fucker is so inconsistent. But last week was a 50 pointer, and he usually follows those up with a 10 pointer, so I'm benching him.
bluecuracao • Dec 4, 2013 7:23 pm
Hello, all...I apologize for abandoning Eagle Green this entire season. Things have been extremely weird in my life lately, and my brain just refused to deal with anything football-related (amongst other things).

A bizarre kind of preservation mode? Probably.

Anyway, I tried to fix my team up a little, in the hopes that I'll have a decent showing for the final week at least. Show me what you got, Geno Smith!
lumberjim • Dec 9, 2013 11:58 pm
Playoff results. Round one.

If you lost, hang in. ... theres a loser-off to play next week
glatt • Dec 16, 2013 9:54 am
Wow. Several of my players did very poorly yesterday.

You're looking good, Shawnee. I doubt Flacco will save me tonight. He's decent, but I need him to be spectacular. You've got this one in the bag.
Undertoad • Dec 16, 2013 12:00 pm
Yeah uh oh well. Pass along my congrats to Amanda
lumberjim • Dec 16, 2013 12:15 pm
Yeah. That Birch beat me too
glatt • Dec 16, 2013 12:16 pm
Wait a second, was I playing Infi for a slot in the championship game?

Come on Flacco, have the game of your lifetime tonight!

If I lose, am I playing UT next week for the third place slot?
lumberjim • Dec 16, 2013 1:40 pm
EDIT:

yes, if you lose you'll play UT for 3rd...loser is 4th, I play zippy for 5th place loser gets 6th

the consolation bracket works the same way
lumberjim • Dec 16, 2013 1:46 pm
and REMEMBER!

the next TWO WEEKS of real football will get merged into the FF final game! so don't give up if you lose week 16!
Clodfobble • Dec 16, 2013 3:39 pm
Damn. I'm beating the Goats right now, but only by 13 points. All my players are done for the week, and he's still got three to play tonight. Whew! This fight for 8th and 9th place in the league is gonna be a nailbiter! :)
glatt • Dec 16, 2013 4:24 pm
I can't get my head around the fact that I still have a (long) shot at #1, and am guaranteed at least 4th. My team has been very mediocre this whole season, and I don't think I ever ranked higher than 6th in the league.

Your shot is so long you can't even see how long it is with any long shot devising devices! ;) Good Luck! It would be hilarious if Flacco got enough points, but as I always say: It's football...most anything can happen.

I think it's gonna be Chick Bowl, though. Me and Amanda in the finals. You have to like that! :)
glatt • Dec 17, 2013 9:13 am
Good job Infi!

I see you picked up Cousins on Sunday. I was thinking of grabbing him, but when I went to check on him you had already nabbed him. Smart move. He's probably going to score far higher than the 40 points the guru predicts. That move may just win you this season.
BigV • Dec 17, 2013 12:30 pm
Quick question

Will there be lingerie and if so, will it be available on dvd?
glatt • Dec 22, 2013 5:02 pm
Good job Tony. You deserved to win today. I didn't even belong in that game with my record this season.
Undertoad • Dec 22, 2013 9:33 pm
Thank you sir, you may have lost a game but you remain an officer and a gentleman.
xoxoxoBruce • Dec 28, 2013 1:40 am
Yeah yeah, on here. But at home he's dancing around in his underwear casting aspersions on your team. :lol2:
Griff • Dec 28, 2013 8:43 am
Hey Spencer! If you have another QB they're saying McCown won't start this week. Gonna be down to the wire for that all important 7th place game.
lumberjim • Dec 28, 2013 9:14 am
I'll tell him.
Griff • Dec 28, 2013 9:22 am
Cools.
Griff • Dec 29, 2013 5:16 pm
Of course KC announces that they are not playing starters today so now I'm down a QB and the Steelers need KC's scrubs to knock off the Bolts.

RIVER RATS! WORLD CHAMPEEEEENS~!

I think it was the Helmet that did it!

nice job Lisa!

Righteous.
Griff • Dec 30, 2013 10:13 pm
All hail the mighty River Rats! World/Cellar Champions!
infinite monkey • Dec 31, 2013 8:28 am
Hey, thanks!

I feel like UT really won the season, though I kept trying to catch up to him. I got fortunate in the tournament.

Thanks jim, for doing this again this year. It was, as always, something to do that made football even more fun to watch. And to be winning? Miss Competitive Me? Well, that was nice. Made a sucky year a bit less sucky.

Good games everybody! Amanda, it was close. I extend the hand of 'good game' to you.
Undertoad • Dec 31, 2013 8:36 am
I did get lucky to get the two best QBs, but it seems like that just meant all the rest of my team was super inconsistent. That made it an any given sunday condition. You won!
lumberjim • Dec 31, 2013 10:40 am
I think it's cool that girls came in 1st & 2nd
BigV • Dec 31, 2013 1:22 pm
I'm cool with the girls coming first, too.
infinite monkey • Jan 12, 2014 5:07 pm
I'm watching Rivers vs Manning. ;)

I find myself rooting for Demaryius Thomas for his TD as much as I root for Rivers, because of my fantasy team. But, I also really like Manning.

Rivers has been a good FF quarterback for me over the years. I guess I'm rooting for the Chargers.
monster • Jan 12, 2014 8:49 pm
if you alternate who you root for, does that make you a roto-rooter?
lumberjim • Jan 12, 2014 8:54 pm
I found myself rooting for the offense. This is such a predictable group of teams in the Championship round. Goddamned Niners. The ever present Patriots. And the two teams that everyone pointed to at the start of the season. The Broncos and SeaHawks. I don't know if I ever told anyone, but that's who I figured would play in the Super Bowl. Broncos winning it.

We shall see.
Griff • Jan 12, 2014 8:55 pm
I'd like to see that match-up, but I still won't be watching Bruno Mars.
infinite monkey • Jan 13, 2014 12:36 pm
I am a roto-rooter, monster! New user title.

Well, guess I picked the wrong team.

Griff: agreed. I heard Red Hot Chili Peppers and I was all like 'cool.' Then I heard Bruno Mars and I was all like 'yuck.' Is he going to be singing one of his whiney songs? Poor Bruno, so unlucky in love. And so whiney about it.

At halftime of SF/SEA, Seattle is going to dim the lights, use black light effect, and perform their own rendition of Mummenschanz..their shoulders and shoes and some gloves are ready for production.

Ugly uniforms. They should lose just for that. ;)

We're going to the Stoner Bowl!
lumberjim • Aug 4, 2014 2:14 pm
should we do this again?
glatt • Aug 4, 2014 2:18 pm
I'm up for getting creamed by the River Rats again.
lumberjim • Aug 4, 2014 2:20 pm
if we do, I don't want teams that are ignored by their owners. I'd rather have less teams.
glatt • Aug 4, 2014 2:23 pm
Yeah. But those were the only teams I could beat!
