My Summer Vacation

Big Sarge • Jun 20, 2013 5:16 pm
Like every summer, I take an extended vacation. I stay in only the best rooms and treat myself to finest of luxuries.

Here's a picture of my barracks. I'm staying in a four man room. The next picture is my living area. It is an 8x8 cubicle. I now it is messy, but I had been in the field for awhile....

Hi Sarge! Nice to hear from you!

That's a lush looking resort hotel you're in. Air conditioning, golf greens right out the door, feature windows... I'm sure they'll have all sorts of fun recreation activities for you. Where is it? Bahamas? Bermuda?

Hey, Sarge! So glad you're in touch. Your digs look functional and relatively easy to clean. In my book that's good! Looks warm and pleasant ... hopefully not too warm. Keep posting pics, please. When my hair grows past military length I may even post one too.

Lots of hugs, stay in touch.

I'm at Joint Forces Training Center Shelby. Even though I make cracks about this place, I feel more at home here than any other place in the world. I feel safe & secure. While the work is tough, I find it greatly improves my self esteem/depression.

I've been visiting this little resort since 1979

It's good to see you posting, Sarge. I'm glad you're having a good "summer vacation."

Well, it'll be a tight squeeze in that bed, but I have lost weight.
Just warn the other three, because I am not into sharing!

Glad to have you back here.
Even if you're there.

Hiya Sarge!! You sound great, that's wonderful to hear.
busterb • Jun 21, 2013 4:29 pm
Guess ya forgot the meet and greet. Was down that way for eye exam other day.
Big Sarge • Jun 22, 2013 9:10 pm
I haven't forgotten you. This first part of the summer a Range NCOIC for Bradley qualifications. I was waiting till I shift back to work on main post. Sorry I made you feel slighted
Griff • Jun 23, 2013 12:33 pm
Are you driving those bad boys?
busterb • Jun 27, 2013 8:20 pm
I last visited this little resort in 1963.

Dayum bb - that was before I was born and I'm feeling old at almost 50.

Great to see you posting Sarge. Apparently you suck at email as well.

Sorry Classicman, my email & internet often suck when I'm in the field.

BB - Let me know about the meet & I'll try to take a pass.

Griff - I'm the range NCOIC for a company of Brads. I got to go down range on a familiarization run as the BC (Bradley Commander). New experience for me because the heaviest vehicles I usually TC are a Cayman or ASV. Here's a pic of me in my M2A3.

Here's the view from the range tower where I work. The Brads go through a series of engagements with pop up targets on both day & night phases. They use their 25mm cannon & co-ax machinegun. Loud, but the tracers are beautiful.

super cool Sarge, keep up the good work and good posts.

Very cool Sarge!

I haven't seen the girls since before Easter. Bryanna has been babysitting Addie some and sending me pictures. I'm a proud dad and I want to share some with you. Bryanna is 17 and Addie will be 6 in Sep.

I have a video of Addie singing her ABC's that I hope to post soon
orthodoc • Jul 8, 2013 7:42 am
These are beautiful, Sarge. Thank you for sharing!
BigV • Jul 8, 2013 1:54 pm
OUTstanding!

You must be a very proud papa.
Sundae • Jul 8, 2013 4:20 pm
I'm so pleased Bryanna is in touch.
With you and with Addie. Hope that doesn't "confuse" Addie too much :right:

Two beautiful girls that are a credit to you.
How's your other beautiful girl? Last I heard Elizabeth was studying to become a dietician. I think of your girls often, so pass on my thoughts to those you can.

And I think of you too, working when you should be resting and putting everyone else first.
Big Sarge • Jul 12, 2013 8:20 am
I hope to see the kids next week. addie calls me by my first name so she doesn't get confused with her new daddy. not much I can do about it. Elizabeth is still in college and is a sophomore. she might change from being a dietician to hotel and restaurant management. Louis still works for Medicaid.

here's a picture of our latrine in the barracks area. they are separate buildings and are designed to support 200 troops. the sinks get a little crowded in the mornings. there are open showers for 10 soldiers at a time. you are supposed to take your shower in 3 mins or less. I can't complain. they pay me good money and it is better than camping
Sundae • Jul 12, 2013 2:10 pm
If'n you camp it up will they let you go with some hush-hush money? I don't know how DADT works...

Also, sorry. I don't forget about Louis, but even when I thought I'd have children I always thought they would be girls. I always wanted daughters.
And yet I connected more with the boys when I worked at school :eyebrow:

Just pleased to know you are still active.
Ten soldiers in the shower? Hmmm. Might take me more than three minutes.

I'd gladly give you a personal tour of the showers. I'm sure we can bend the 3 min rule:thumb:

Sometimes things work out just right like yesterday. I was kicked back in my crocs wearing shorts while getting paid for it. Look in the water and you can make out the fish
ZenGum • Jul 15, 2013 8:21 pm
Lovely! Enjoy!

Can you fish there?
Big Sarge • Jul 16, 2013 2:39 am
I was serving as a courier transporting documents when I came across this little park. Fishing is allowed, but I had no gear and 7 more hours to drive . I did get my toes wet and it was lovely
