Unlike Rome, the nest was built in less than a day.
They moved in the next day.
The kids are due in about a week.
First time robins have set up house on my house...but, Wiki shows almost the exact same set-up,
here.
We've had them on outside lights just like that ... always have one in the Japanese pine, and another in the Arctic willow. Love this time of year. Great pics, Grav! That mama robin was really giving you the hairy eyeball. :)
I worry about driving her insane. We use that old 'slam-bang' screen door a lot.
That nest material looks really dry. Hmmm... dry grass & fresh eggs, all you need is bacon. ;)
Awesome. Might be a bit of a challenge to go in and out of the house until they are fledged, though. My friends frequently get dive-bombed at their kitchen door.
you make nice threads gravdigr
Update.
The impending brood now numbers three (3).

Look forward to seeing the little ones :)
Checked this morning...no tweeters yet.

you should know better - you really can't rush these things ;)
Yeah, you don't want some kind of fly-by-night job.
Thanks, Grav! This thread will be my baby robin 'fix' for this year, since there aren't any nests near my apartment. :(
Just one more downside to apartment living.
They're all mouth at that stage it seems.

Must be teenagers. :D

I guess three-of-a-kind makes for a full house.

And they're off!

Thanks, grav!
Nice to 'see' you again!
How did they taste? :yum:
like chicken, of course.
welcome back gravdigr!
Great photo-journalism, thank you.
Nice to 'see' you again!
welcome back gravdigr!
Thanx!
Two years unoccupied, but, I finally flipped this nest...
This is a new robin in an old nest. She. Is. Touchy.
She simply won't hang around at all, once you're within about fifty feet. She'll hideout in the maple tree and scold you all day though.
The nest:

Typical, sit there and push their big red breasts out, yelling don't look at me.
I fucking hate you for that thread title. now that's lodged in my head AGAIN where it doesn't need to be. I have enough trouble getting rid of it after Sunday pottery classes right next door to the dance studio where every class is doing a routine to this travesty
nice chicks tho
you guys crack me the hell up
Go ahead hate me. If you're hating me, you're giving someone else a break.
Cellar, meet Manny, Moe, & Jack:

Two with mouths open, one with mouth closed, in front of one with mouth open.
Extra points if you know where the names came from.
Winnah, winnah, baby robin dinnah!!
pfft. I call fowl. Peep Boys is the proper answer.
They left day before yesterday.
Rockin' robins!! Again.
