Because they were fit and healthy and yet had a stroke aged 42 and needed a goal to give them a reason to keep trying to be alive and fit and healthy?
footfootfoot • Apr 21, 2013 8:13 pm

I don't know, sounds to me like a way to add a heart attack to the list.
Certainly there are people who maintain a healthy lifestyle without going to such extremes, or in fact any competitions.

But for people such as yourself who decide they want the challenge, then meet that goal, there must be a lot of personal satisfaction. If it's to prove to the world they're not over the hill, or any other personal reason, then that works too.

Like I said, you certainly earned congratulations on achieving your goal.

why thank you. Up at 5 this morning for morning practice taxi. I'm knackered. i can still move but it feels like it might not be the case later on.....

It was a sprint/mini tri, by the way -400y pool swim, 12.4 miles (20K) bike and 3.1 miles (5K) run. My first, and probably my last.

Now, shall I go to the gym today? Or back to bed :)

That is still more than I can do.

Gurl, you are Ms Ambition. Let your body rest a bit. ;)

(In other words, ease my guilt!)
footfootfoot • Apr 22, 2013 9:52 am
Sorry, I didn't read the question carefully. I did do a triathlon, once, 30 years ago. Not today.

Go swimming, not hard laps just easy loosening up, it does a body good.
monster • Apr 22, 2013 5:05 pm
I had a PT appt first, she made me stretch. When i got to the gym, I walked/jogged a little (mile and a half), did 10 minutes gently on an exercise bike, did a little strength training (been neglecting that) and my remaining PT exercises (they are not hard work but must be done..), swam a sedate 400 then hit the hot tub :) the idea was to try and lightly use everything that got used yesterday to minimise stiffness. so far so good :) I'm just a little saddle sore ans there are remnants of my body marking that i can't scrub off.
footfootfoot • Apr 22, 2013 5:47 pm
IT sounds like you are exercising everything. What does the PT hit?

That boy was high mileage before he ran the triathlon. We've started to walk and trail run after our Sunday morning mountain biking. All in all its just under 3 hours of good cardio and I finally felt pretty good today. The sneaker time does remind me why I dropped serious running after wrestling in the winter of 1982. I am not a runner, but my hips are starting to loosen up.
