What? I applied! I got through the talent competition! None of the other popes could twirl a baton!

It's bullshit. Pope Contest is rigged.

Cardinal Jorge Urosa Savino of Caracas, Venezuela.

Wouldn't that be a kick!
Lamplighter • Mar 7, 2013 1:43 pm
I think it should be a woman... The Popess
Gravdigr • Mar 7, 2013 4:48 pm

They thought your twirling was too worldly. Now if you could get the Virgin Mary to appear in your flaming batons, you might have a shot.

Lol. My iPhone capitalized Virgin Mary for me.

As in, the rock upon which the church is built?

They should vote for the candidate least likely to resign.

Two in a row would be bad PR.
xoxoxoBruce • Mar 8, 2013 9:03 pm
Eh, golden parachutes are so "in", these days.
Griff • Mar 9, 2013 8:00 am
We should start handing out lead parachutes, similar flight characteristics, but more cost efficient.
ZenGum • Mar 9, 2013 6:50 pm
Actually, having Popes resign when they are obviously overburdened would probably do the Church a world of good. The last few years of JPII were embarrassing and stagnant.

Still, it'd be like rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic, IMHO.

Anybody hang on to the Malachy prophecy from the last conclave? What does it say about the pope after Obi Ben Palpatine?
Undertoad • Mar 12, 2013 8:08 am
It says the Catholic church devolved into a set of superstitions and nonsensical beliefs, unrelated to the bible, during the dark ages, and hasn't really recovered since.

Talking head on tv:

"The Cardinals will be locked in the Sistine Chapel.
Only God knows when it will end."
infinite monkey • Mar 12, 2013 1:43 pm
I'm on the short list for consideration. In fact, someone told me I am currently first. I'm sitting at Pope Position. I am the Popesitter.
JBKlyde • Mar 12, 2013 4:22 pm
I just HOPE that who ever they pick.. that he's not the anti-Christ... so much drama in the church these days I want the church to succeed I want peace and harmony among-st the throne of fishermen.. yea as a kid I was a little rebellious but now I just want righteousness to prevail.
BigV • Mar 12, 2013 6:53 pm
Yes, I'm right there with you JBK, let's hope the anti-Christ is not elected/appointed/elevated/sanctified (what is the right verb here people?) pope.
infinite monkey • Mar 12, 2013 6:56 pm
I guess you two won't be voting for me.

infinite monkey • Mar 12, 2013 7:06 pm
And why not me? I'm just as anti-christy as the next guy.
xoxoxoBruce • Mar 12, 2013 7:07 pm
The Jehovah's Witnesses told me the end of times will start with the election/selection of a false leader from the east.

Hmm, I forgot to ask east of what.
Lamplighter • Mar 12, 2013 7:09 pm
No matter where that is, it's always west of somewhere else.
infinite monkey • Mar 12, 2013 7:10 pm
East of eden, prolly.
ZenGum • Mar 12, 2013 7:19 pm
Hang on... any male Catholic is eligible.

Classicman, you still job hunting? Get your name in, fast!
xoxoxoBruce • Mar 12, 2013 7:22 pm
And feed all the others the mushrooms.
BigV • Mar 13, 2013 2:19 pm
apparently, there's a new pope!

the name will be announced in latin, (thanks!) but only after the documents are drawn up.

bbc says thirty minutes until the announcement.
JBKlyde • Mar 16, 2013 5:23 pm
Pope Francis.... He's from 'Latin America' so if something goes wrong leave it up to America to screw it up right...
