It's gun-metal gray outside; a post-deluge stuffy sinus looking sky with the pavement all shiny and leering at you.
It's suicide weather, really.

Coffee. Dark roast dimly lit rooms with creamy highlights from sun streams through gaps in the drapes stirred by the cat.
Everyone complimented me on my "new" boots today.
Have had them for years but not been able to zip them up (fatted calves).
They also have a heel, so I am taller and therefore look slimmer.

Worked an extra 2 hours (after school club) for the first time since December.

In NOLA grave dirt is considered good gris-gris.
Grey sky but the world is clean looking. The snow's all gone (hurrah!). In amongst the overall grey of the roads and buildings are deeper tones of greens and browns. Yorkshire stone picking up the earth tones.
I actually saw patches of blue sky this morning and sun peeking through. Sweet!

This ought to go in what's annoying the shit out of me, but this morning I woke up and the colors on my monitor were all intensely vivid and dayglo. I spent the better part of half an hour fucking with everything to get them normal and now, most of them sort of are, but chrome is still really hot. There is also a halo around fine type that made it so hard to read I had to bump the size of it up and bold it.

Got a lift in from a new staff member.
She also gave me a lift home - she drives right past the end of my road on the way home.
She's happy to offer me a lift anytime I am working at After School Club as it's not out of her way and we finish the same time.
I feel this is my karmic reward for driving a colleague home every Sunday evening when I worked at Asda in Leicester. Poor lady had to wait for an hourly bus. And yes it was in the opposite direction to me, but I've been a pedestrian for long enough to know that lifts generally mean far more to the passenger than the driver.
She's a nice lady. Plays the trumpet too. And the euphonium. What is it with these crazy brass ladies? She likes that she can ask me "ignorant" questions. Like what does Mrs C actually do? And who is more senior, Miss N or Mrs M?

I'm a sun-worshipper and I've got the freckled, dried-up skin to prove it. It's grey here from about Dec to April when it turns a minty green with loads of rain but May and June can be okay (lately June has been much too hot) July is unbearable, and August can be, too; Sept. Oct. Nov. are good. Very, very good. Three out of twelve...sigh. but I don't want to be in the tropics (much too hot) but I want to be in a cool clime (highest 70 degrees) with blue skies and loads of sunshine every day. Where is that?

this morning was pink and blue. the low clouds over the city reflected the city lights for a field of pink, but the holes in the clouds showed blue sky. it was very pretty. even inside was pink and blue as BD and SonofV jockeyed for position for the shower. no storms in either one, thankfully. :)

They all say, "When the baby sleeps, so should you." I never did, thinking I had to use to time to get stuff done.
I totally regret not using that time to sleep.

Nose leaking like a faucet now. I will cloak myself in your sympathies, and trust that I am definitely napping when the baby naps. I usually cart her around in my left arm and do chores with my right, so that when she's asleep I can rest and relax. I'm a firm believer that I have to take care of myself so I can care for others -- if you deplete yourself to zero, there's nothing left to give.

I used to rest when max did. Now i still do. Unfortunately, he doesnt rest when the baby does. :( soo i might get to have two nana naps a week when he's at kindy and its just me and eva at home. She's started waking around 4am every morning for a half feed. This is turning my days grey because i am back to feeling tired. Shes teething too, and having a growth spurt. Time to give solids a good hard go i think. She might go back to sleeping well if her belly is fuller.
@ choco - you definitely have my sympathy too! Smart philosophy re resting when the baby does, very smart. :)
@ Ali - multiple children who don't rest at the same time is such a tough situation. My guys used to tag-team, one finally dozing off only to have another raise the alarm. Or one would wake the others up and all would be needy ... sigh. With Eva wanting a new half-feed, at her age - trying to manage it completely with breastfeeding takes a few days to bring the milk supplies up (I forget if you said you were breastfeeding, sorry) and even then she may be hungry ... solid foods will fill her up and help her sleep. That's a winner in my book.
