Greatest Vocal Tracks
What are some of the songs with the greatest vocal virtuosity? Somebody to Love is absolutely up there, along with Great Gig in the Sky. What're some others? I'm talking not just with feeling, but real vocal perfection. Sorry, Dylan, Joplin, et al.

It's gonna be hard to top that one.

It is a great trial to be techno-handicapped.
This is supposed to be the diva's concert in 'The Fifth Element', sung by Sarah Brightman, acted by an unknown model in a latex suit ... but the music, the vocal virtuosity, is sublime.

Mendelssohn's Song Without Notes?
Also Hayley Westenra, who has the purest tones and a gorgeous range, and I'm not going to even try to link one of her youtube videos. But her voice is beautiful.

THere you go, ortho.
Hey, my nephew had me listen to Hayley Westenra on Christmas. WOW. Which song do you recommend I can link it if it's in the next 45 minutes. I don't remember the song my nephew played.
Thank you! I followed what I thought were the instructions and - nothing.
Hayley Westenra - her recording of 'May It Be' from LOTR shows her vocal quality although not her entire range; 'Dark Waltz' shows a little more of her range. I've mostly listened to her on Pandora.

(You just need the stuff AFTER the = sign in the youtube brackets.)

I think I posted a live version of this elsewhere.

Are we building to a 64 vocalist sing off? That Baez cut is fabulous. The thing that gets me about Winwood and Cliff is that their voices remain capable even as they age. I've got a Blind Faith version of Find My Way Home on vinyl that is just fantastic but even older Winwood brings it. Hard to beat Freddy, unfortunately he'll never age and we'll never know where his genius would have lead.
I spent half of last night trying to think of this guy's name. One of my all time favourite vocal performances ever

That was wonderful! He reminds me of Aaron Neville. I'll put up Ain't No Sunshine, but his body of work is deep.

That song of A&tJs breaks my heart it's so beautiful.
Love Aaron Neville btw.

Not too shabby. I've heard some weak versions of Cara Mia, I guess that was what they thought they were doing. :)
