Holiday Yumeh!

Nirvana • Dec 20, 2012 5:09 pm
Ingredients

1 lb large strawberries
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
3-4 Tablespoons powdered sugar (or sugar substitute - to taste)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1. Rinse strawberries and cut around the top of the strawberry. Remove the top, (enough for a hat). Clean out the whole strawberry with a paring knife, if necessary (some of them are hollow already. Prep all of the strawberries and set aside.

2. In a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until creamy. Add cream cheese mix to a piping bag or Ziploc with the corner snipped off. Fill the strawberries with cheesecake mixture.

3. Once strawberries are filled, top with the 'hats.' Decorate according to photo.

4. If not serving immediately, refrigerate until serving.

Nirvana • Dec 20, 2012 11:25 pm
I have made them and I am not talented enough to have taken that photo.

I am an amateur dog and cow photographer ;) Still life scares me  I need eye contact!
LOL!

Oh wow, wow, wow!
I may have to break my rules about food miles to make those next year!

Then again, I had some gorge cookies I was supposed to make this year and just didnn't because I was too miserable (not being in school).

Onwards and upwards. Strawberry Santas AND Christmas cookies next year.

Those little black sesame seeds are the eyes.

As for you, you will probably only get eye contact from gay men and straight women, and even then, it's probably only gonna be 50% of the time.

I am going to make some of those (if I can get some good strawberries)! If you like (and they turn out ok lol) I will post pictures. I assume they taste like a little bite of strawberry cheesecake. Yummy!

godDAMN those are cute!

I got some Kentucky Cream Candy (also called Savannah Creams) yesterday----anyone ever heard of them?
orthodoc • Dec 26, 2012 10:21 am
Never. Is it a basic pulled candy? I googled it and found something about it being softer than taffy, melt in your mouth - butter and sugar and water, pulled. Yes?

I'm dreaming of finding some treacle toffee one of these days. Used to get it in Canada, sold by Walkers, I think; it's a hard candy with a molasses taste. I loved it when I was a kid.
Trilby • Dec 26, 2012 10:25 am
No worries. I know a store in cincy that sells it-----i'll send you some.

and no, not pulled. It's like...melty, buttery, sugary, vanilla-y heaven.
orthodoc • Dec 26, 2012 10:44 am
Mmmm, vanilla ... buttery vanilla buttery goodness ... :yum:

Butter tarts! Now I'm thinking of butter tarts, another Canadian thing ... gotta make some later today during the storm. Trilby, you've started something!! This food stuff is just too sensual ... before you know it, Kentucky cream candy leads to butter tarts ... ;)

I get dibs on the name:

We'll name the baby Galadriel Ariel Jasmine Arwen Rainbow Happiness.

no last name needed. She'll be communally raised.

As long as it doesn't lead to dancing. ;)
Here's a simple one.
