This Olde Apartment
Ok, so I verbally agreed and shook on it.

Move in Jan 1.
it has a living room with a fireplace, a tiny second bedroom that I will use as an office, a big main bedroom with an inoperative fireplace...that just looks cool:

a dining room, an eat in kitchen, a mudroom, half of the basement, half of the 2 car garage!( motorcycle storage) a big front porch.

And theres a big old electric organ in the foyer! It's a quiet one way street, and shady. Only one other tenant in the house, and she and her man have been there 18 years.
....I'm kind of stoked.
Woot! Way to go Jim.
So...party at Jim's gaff then.
I'll bring the Wild Turkey and fine pot, who's bringing the powder?
I LOVE that house! Look at that porch!
That's going to be so nice to sit on in the evening drinking a cold one when the weather warms up.
Seriously, that's beautiful.
I know, so lovely. If I had that porch I'd sit on it and pretend I was in True blood...
tmi?
Maybe you don't want to say, but is this H*dd*nf**ld?
I'ma coming to the housewarming too!
Can't bring cleavage or powder, but I'll do cookies and smiles.
[Hsssst - don't invite Lola or I'll be redundant]
Oh that's so mean.
Okay, I'll bring spotted dick and steak & kidney pudding instead.
PS - looks wonderful.
I love it. Is it the Halloween house? ;)
Yeah, that front porch and a fireplace, and an eat-in chicken...wow.
I would sit on the porch when storms rolled in, like mom and I used to do. Ooooh ooooh...are you allowed to put up a porch swing? Sigh...sit in the swing reading.
I've always dreamed of having a big shady porch like that. Enjoy it!
The corner on the right side...is that the living room? Is that room shaped like that too?
Do you know when the house was built?
(My friends have a small place in a house built in 1873. The woodwork is amazing. There's a closet that USED to house a murphy bed. I'd so put a murphy bed in, so I could be like Caroline on 2 Broke Girls.)
Merchantville. Haddonfield is 15 minutes away. This place is 1/4 mile west of the Chery Hill Mall.
Yes, shaw, the living room is in front on the right. Theres a big working fireplace in that room.
I just realized that there was no dish washer.... meh
Yeah, I can't wait to get altituded and sit on that porch and strum my guitar.
Yay!

Looks great ... but what the heck is a mudroom?
Sundae, what do you mean, you can't bring cleavage???
Love that song! I used to live 42 steps from the street. And i just heard bnl and some woman singing God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen.
Great place jim! I have never had a working fireplace.
Beautiful house, Jim! Love the porch. Those older houses are magnificent.
I'll bring creme de menthe bars to the housewarming.
Looks great ... but what the heck is a mudroom?
Small entryway room that is intended for removing muddy boots and shaking snow off the coat during the winter. Not always part of the central heating, sometimes little more than an enclosed porch. They don't exist in my part of the country, I just know about them from relatives who live where it snows a lot.

Dear, if you bring cookies, I'll bring cake. ;) Heck, you make better cake than I do. You bring cake and I'll bring cookies, hehe.
Anyways, that house does look nice. I think the porch is wonderful to sit out and play an instrument. With your wonderful playing, I'm sure the neighbors won't mind.
that is such a cool house, Jim.
and the money you'll save -wow. totally.
congrats to you and tony both!
eta: I know tony lives elsewhere- but it just seemed good to cover both bases as it were. :)
Moving In Flowers :flower: :flower:
Looks good Jim. Good for you. And heck, its almost free!
eta: I know tony lives elsewhere-
I tried!! I tried to make the Cellar House happen!!
This is kind of weird, but at 42.... I've never lived alone.
At 53, neither have I. Enjoy it, I'm sure there'll be some positives you didn't think of. I hear Merchantville is nice.
This is kind of weird, but at 42.... I've never lived alone.
At first I was depressed as hell (but was going thru divorce with the man I twuuuuuuuly wuved) and didn't have enough money tho I was working nights. AND I WAS WORKING NIGHTS.
But now---now that I'm finally settled I LOVE it.
It might take a while, but I bet you come to love it, too.
Yeah ... going through the same thing. Fifty-something, never lived alone. Well, I guess my first year of university counts. Once I met my ex in second year he moved in pretty fast - strictly for practical reasons, of course  ...
And I never lived alone again.
So it's pretty cool having my own woman-cave.
 sorry Trilby, but my blurry vision read your post as 'worm In cave' !!
Think I'll stick with woman-cave, at least until my vision returns to normal.
Yeah, y'know that kind of terminology is tricksy. A woman cave could mean somanythings...
If I lived alone, I would walk around the house nekkid, after removing all the mirrors. I wouldn't have a bureau, I would have a clean clothes basket and a dirty clothes basket. I would reuse the same flatware, use it, wash it, use it - no need to ever be put away. I would have lots of house plants, and I would never dust. Celery would not be allowed in my house. But that's me.
Quentin Crisp says he never cleaned his apt and after about the first four years you really couldn't tell any difference.

Looks nice and cozy, Jim. Built in corner cabinets are cool.
I'm in love! that is one beautiful place, jim.
I soooooooo dig houses that have character. I'd take that one over one of those hideous McMansions anyday of the week.
Like an English muffin-nooks and crannies! and the office-who cares at the size-look at those windows!!
the other people live upstairs???? do they have a private entrance?
I love it, jim. The living room is gonna be so cool all furnished and stuff. Now, where's the fridge, let's crack open a beer. ;)
let's see moar pics. mudroom for Zen, please.
MOAR!

Close, that's where everyone removes all their clothing, before entering
The Jimboy Mansion tm.
Those last are the ones taken for the mls listing.
Ill get more once I'm in. maybe a quick video tour.
Yes, BRI, only one other tenant, and she has an entrance in back. The kitchen counters are sagging and gross, the stove is an old gas range, and the fridge is kind of funky. I'll replace that eventually. The LL is fine with me improving things.
I can see being comfortable there.
Here's the kitchen as is:

no cabinets other than this big fella

Fantastico! Imma gonna come over and do a tour of teh fabulous new Cellar residences!!!
What is up with those window treatments? Ugh.
Looking forward to the house tour once you're settled!
I've seen-hell, I've LIVED-in worse kitchens.
but you're right---the kitchen does need a shake up.
my almost favorite part:

an actual garage!
Every other apartment complex I looked at had NO covered parking. one even said NO MOTORCYCLES!
it's going to be just like I'm a grown up! with my own tools in my own garage and all!
I'm getting all worked up here
street viewThis is kind of weird, but at 42.... I've never lived alone.
Well, I'm 42 and I've never lived alone, and it doesn't look like I'll be living alone anytime soon. I guess I'm more weird. :frog:
As for your place, it looks super wonderful, especially the patio. I've always daydreamed of living in a house with a patio like that.
By the time I was 42 I'd never lived with/cohabited with anyone. When Mr Limey moved in it was a bit of a shock. 20 years of living on my own as an adult ended then.

I'm pretty sure some kind of wrestling takes place there, too.
What a great area to live in. When I was working in Mt. Laurel, one of the buses I use to take went through Merchantville. Passing by all those lovely Victorian houses made for some nice sight-seeing.
I'm pretty sure some kind of wrestling takes place there, too.
Yeah, the mudroom. ;) Don't let Clod's explanation fool ya.
Yeah, the mudroom. ;) Don't let Clod's explanation fool ya.
win!
I dropped off the lease and the checks today.
now a looooong 3 week wait for the 1st.
sigh. every night I have to stay until 10:30 and then drive an hour home, then right back 1 1/2 hours in the morning is going to be torture.
That is a sweet porch.
It's not a porch. It's a Merchedes.
:drummer:
a three week nightmare, right? Not the new commute config.
It's not a porch. It's a Merchedes.
:drummer:
Mer-shade-ease. ;)

Good thing we put an extra can of paint on it.
Hmmmpf. Can't get verizon here. Must go xfinity. Balz
well, I put in for that notify me thing. I hope your technique works.
I did that what feels like years ago, but something tells me fios is not in Old City's future. I think you have better prospects out where you are.
I spoke to the realtor today, and she says they added a dishwasher when they re did the kitchen!
Sweeet !!!
Whats her Name ??
I now have a walk through date of Dec 30th at 1pm. After we go through, they give me the keys, and I can move in any time after that. That's next Sunday already! I guess I should start packing my shit.
I'm going to use the rest of that day to clean the place thoroughly. Steam clean carpets, hang shower curtain, install the cable, diagnose the washer dryer situation, stock toilet paper, trash bags, etc.
Hire an oversized dumpster and start throwing everything away immediately!!!
I now have a walk through date of Dec 30th at 1pm.
Make sure there's no cement in the sewer pipe.:p:
There's another tenant in the same house, so I am assuming that the plumbing is operational. Also, no need to throw things out, as I've been living in a single room for 2.5 years. I have the things I wanted from the house in Elverson in Amanda's basement, Mom's attic and shed. I will be able to take my time about this.
I should only need help with the wardrobes and dresser. everything else is one man carry. I'm borrowing the NV Cargo van from work, and I have a hand truck.
Sounds like a clean move.

Wow.
moving sucks. Good luck and have some pizza.
Get your internet service back on soon!
It's been on since sunday. I had Spence set it up. I had to buy a wireless router, though.
I moved in officially today. I'm about to crawl into bed. New sheets, so freshly showered and exhausted from moving.
I feel at home here.
Wishing you much comfort and happiness in your new home!

So how much later did you sleep this morning since your work is now like two blocks away?
Yey! Hope it's a happy home for you Jim :) That bed looks uber comfy!
Striped sheets are the only way to go. They help when you're trying to figure out which is the little end and which is the longer end. I KNOW it seems like it would be obvious but with sheets being so deep now (to accomodate mattress toppers, etc) sometimes it's hard to tell. Stripes lead the way.
Good for you, Jim!

slept through my alarm.... woke up at 8:30. out the door at 8:41. Parking lot at 8:47.
fucking win.
Congrats on your move ... all the best in your new place. Six minutes from work? Definite win.
Gonna be a big lifestyle change now! What to do with all this new free time?
Indeed. Maybe I'll learn to play guitar.
this is the organ that was left here:

I'd suggest that he mastered the organ 25 or 30 odd years ago.
Bet that's worth a few bob...
Bet that's worth a few bob...
Probably not. Many old/vintage musical instruments need (a lot of) money spent on 'em to be made playable again and they
may not have been all that good in the first place (even a Wurlitzer ...). This one doesn't look old enough (yet) to be of interest to the specialist collector. Let's hope it survives the next ten years or so ...
I wouldn't feel right selling it. I figure it belongs to the land lady.... But I don't mind having it to play and or put picture frames on. I think it's cool.
Oh goodness, i wasn't suggesting you sell it! Just that it looked like the sort of thing that people find in dusty attics, or garages that turn out to be worth thousands.
It's certainly cool! I thought it was in a shared hallway - but you mean it's in your flat (= apartment)? Ver-ry co-ol! Lucky you!
My dad had something similar when I was a kid...

I can't wait until he visits. I'm gonna make him play it.
Why Jim, what a huge organ you have! :D
I never played. But I took piano lessons at a Wurlitzer place as a kid.
That looks like a nice one. It has lots of stops. Each stop controls a single voice that the organ knows how to make.
On electric organs like yours, they are the colored levers. In the big church organs they are knobs. Push them in to stop the sound (hence the name). Pull them out allow that voice to play. If you had all the stops out, the organ would be set to go as loud as it could go. This is what it means to "Pull out all the stops."

I find this post helpful. Thanks! I had it figured backwards.
Yes, limey...thats me.
Cute! Meanwhile, I am the proud owner of an American Organ ...

This is why I love the Cellar.
Jim ... I have your housewarming gift here somewhere, but I'm sure as hell not mailing it... ifyaknowwhatImean.
Dude. stop over on sunday. It will be my first full day here with the kids and amanda. We're gonna be unpacking and what not all day. I'm gonna do a video tour...you can be in it!

Yay!
Holy crap the world is a tiny place. I spent an
awful winter in Haddonfield once. The only saving grace was the little bar just over *there* in Cherry Hill.
Nice place Jim!
This morning, I went and bought a used washer dryer set for $325. Nice refurbished Maytags....they even match!
When I installed the washer, I realized that the plumber who put the new water supply lines in put in two cold water supplies. Doh! He will be out tomorrow to fix that and a slight leak on the cold water knob. The dryer came with the wrong kind of power cord, so that went on the growing list of things I need.
Then I went and collected my woodworking tools from where I built that deck. My new drill was missing, but Bruce has since located it. He was using it at one of his stores.
Then I had to go home(moms), drop off the van and borrow moms car so I could pick the kids up...went to Lowes for the dryer cord.....Back to moms, then amanda brought pizza over and we ate it.
Then I finished packing up my room, and loading the van with that stuff and the tools I had in her barn and shed.... Sat down for maybe 15 minutes, watched the closing scenes of Hunger games, and it was time to take the kids home again (10:30)
Amanda took them home, and I drove my ass back to NJ and unloaded the van. I'm fucking pooped. Yeungling time.
It usually is the worst thing evar.... but this time... there was no rush... plus I had help most of the time... It really wasn't that bad! two full days of it, and now I't just getting it all set up, which is fun....
also I'm totally excited about having my own digs.
Sweeet !!!

Naughty Zip. Bad Zip. No Beer.
Cool Jim. I may have to make a road trip. It sounds like a slice of heaven, not to mention a beautiful gal who delivers pizza! Holy shit, does it get better than that?

Yeeeeah!!!
Presented unironically, because I always play this in a new place:

All the better to ... organize ... you with.
So the handy man came, and after looking at the pipes, insisted that it was, in fact connected correctly. Must be the washing machine. He kept interrupting me when I tried to explain that I had tried the washer with all possible connection combinations, and run the hot water through the sink and felt the pipes....
He disconnected and reconnected the dishwasher for some reason and left his assistant here doing I don't know what for another hour. The assistant comes up and tells me it's all back together and should work, and this is the hot supply line.
So I say, ok, turn the cold off. Now open the hot. Now fill the washer with hot. Feel that water? Thats cold.
Lets turn the sink on hot, and go down and feel the pipes.
Oh, yeah. Youre right. This one is cold too. Calls the boss, argues with him, and leaves saying the boss will be back shortly to fix it himself.
Cocks.
Tap tap tap
Thats my toe tapping. Dude is making me late for my nap.
Mother. Fucker.
dude is still absent.
And I just ran the dishwasher...cold too.
So I cancel it, and start hearing noise from the basement. Water splashing.
Fucker left the drain pipe disconnected.
Guess I was due...this has been going too smoothly.....
Now the douche canoe won't be back until weds. plick.
thats your down stairs shower
Even by stereotypical tradie standards, that's pretty shitty work.
Dude. stop over on sunday. It will be my first full day here with the kids and amanda. We're gonna be unpacking and what not all day. I'm gonna do a video tour...you can be in it!
Sorry I just saw this... My mom turned 78 today. Had to do B-Day with her.
Definitely gonna catch up soon though.
After reading about the plumbing issues, maybe I'm not that sorry. ;)
yeah... probably would have been a pretty bad host today. The guy that invented e-juanics ( remember the quote list and the cash year's check?) dropped by today though. He helped while I switched the power cord on the dryer. I dropped one of the tiny little 8mm nuts (that hold the individual segments of that cord on to the contacts of the dryer) into the body of the goddamned dryer. I had to tape the contact cable in until I can get out to replace that nut.
I did enough laundry to get me through until weds in cold water, and washed our dishes by hand...not that there was a lot. We had Chinee on paper plates. just soup bowls and coffee mugs really.
Ha - memories being made ...
I got some tools for Christmas. Ready to help out when you are.
Water situation was fixed tuesday. Washer and dishwasher are fully operational. Yay. The kids will be over for their first sleep over tomorrow night. Amanda will pick them up and they should be here when I get home from work.
Thats huge, to me. I got the twin bed assembled this evening, and tested the air mattress. Check check. I also hit 2 different good wills and found a nice set of 8 dinner plates and 5-7" plates that match...white with a blue ring... Plus a wrought iron lamp, a shade for another lamp, a pot rack, a couple of pots, and a thing to put my wooden spoons in.
I hung a coat rack, did a bunch of laundry, dishes, and had 3 hot dogs. Sunday, I'm going to hang my old signs in the kitchen, replace the dead bolt and fix the front door hinges.
I need a chest to store sheets and blankets, and a bakers rack. Most of all, I need to get a couch. And maybe a love seat. Id like to find a love seat sleep sofa so I dont have to use the air mattress.
I did shoot a quick video tour, but have not taken the time to edit it as yet. Suppose I should get on that.
Sounds great! Isn't if fab fixing up a place the way you like it?! And the kids coming for a sleepover, too! I can feel your thrill from here!
Sounds great, Jim. So much done, plans in hand, and the kids coming to sleep over - have a great weekend!

jim, jim, jim...
...ever since you got famous (yeah, I saw that commercial you camera hog!) things have been going downhill.
srsly, I"m sorry about all this. Plumbing, cars....worst shite to deal with.
Cars?
You better not be jinxing me. I have not had any car issues.... Not since I became famous art least.
oooo!
I like this set! $350 for both!
If it doesn't smell like pee.... I think it will go perfect. I have to measure the room, but I'm pretty sure this will go great:
well, I jutht sthpoke to Mark. I'm going to check the measurements in my living room, and go theee it and parhapth buy them on Thunday.
I take it you bit your tongue in your excitement?
$350 for both is a great price. I'd bite my tongue, too.
It's a good omen that the guy has a fancy white carpet, and it's clean.
Yes, he sounded...fastidious.
I just hope it doesn't sell before I get there!
Jim, just so's ya know, I'll be needing the longer couch when I come to visit.
Trilby, just so's you know ... no you wont! ;)
Trilby, just so's you know ... no you wont! ;)
It was the commercial. It got me all hot and bothered.
it's that damn beard. And my weakness for Vikings...

The love seat.... Pictured with no legs because I fucking left them at the dude's house! Hes gonna mail them to me.

And the couch.
The couch fills up one end of the living room, so I put the love seat in the middle room. That room is supposed to be a dining room, but I'm just gonna get a little bar table for it. I have my computer in there, and now the love seat. I think this is the room I will spend most of my solo time in.
Oh, and dude was not gay. I met his old lady. Just a nice, soft spoken guy. Apart from a tiny tear and some cat hair, the furniture is perfect. 6 years old, but looks new. The part you sit on is extra long/deep... So you need those big pillows behind you or you wind up slouching back.... Great for tucking legs up and getting comfy tho.
Huh. He thinks he'll be 'solo'.
somebody clue jim in.
Jim, just so's ya know, I'll be needing the longer couch when I come to visit.
Youre on. I'm right near Pennsauken, too.... Youve been there right?
Youre on. I'm right near Pennsauken, too.... Youve been there right?
hell to the yes. My cousins grew up there. They're your typical Jersey boys, accent and all (and all they eat is Italian food even though they're French Canooks)
They did move, though------to Easton, Pa.
Picked up the forgotten legs today. I've fallen asleep on the couch twice already. Very pleased with it!
I know right!?
When my legs fall asleep, it feels like I've forgotten them, heh, or they've forgotten me. Unlike you, I didn't find the experience pleasant.
I have a little couch envy. Ours are really old and we've got slipcovers over them. They are comfy though.
A comfy couch is a thing of beauty and a joy forever.
Comfy couches lead to sloth. :haha:
Fucking right they do! I was supposed to go to the gym tuesday morning, but I watched 3 episodes of Big Bang Theory on on demand instead.
You need another alarm clock near the couch.
you've been warned.
My cell phone is my alarm clock...and I always keep it in the same room I'm in.
And I never don't have to pee at 4 am

Goooood times.

be careful there!

what? No pottery?!
yeah, we made that nice red
X! isn't it nice?
Oh! Duh!
you know this whole caper reminds me of the time Jan ruined the playing card tower because the charm on her bracelet made it all fall down,......good times, good times.
Caper..... I like it.
I got a million of 'em.
Now we see where the cool kids hang out! Looks like big fun guys.
I got a full refund from Pier 1 for a couch we bought there that didn't hold up. We were looking for a new one, but I decided to build a two level futon thing instead.
You just gave me a major flashback... in college there was a guy who built "stadium seating" for his two couches, so one was elevated above and behind the other. It was surprisingly awesome.
I see Jim has a girlfriend built into the couch. Awesome indeed!
Yeah, she was in full couch cammo.
She fell victim to the blue sleep eater last night....
'Go ahead to bed, I'll be in in a few minutes, just gonna finish watching My Cousin Vinny....'
She came to bed at 7:55 am, lol. Fucker is dangerously comfy.
Good times. Amanda is a delight, and she and James seem really comfortable together. The place is awesome with an awesome location! And he has already made it his own with aggressive but tasteful decorating, and also, he has a computer with an awesome case. I recommend hanging with Jimbo.
Couch Camo! Very nice evening. You are all lucky fools!
I totally picked up on the Y & Z in previous pics.
I'm definitely coming up/over... just gotta figure out when.
Looks like ya'll had a great time. I'm envious
I fear you may have compromised the integrity of your concealment system.
Check out this [strike]cute[/strike] very manly kitchen cart I got.

It looks like a tool box!
I'd love one of those for my kitchen. It'd be awesome.
Are those carpet squares on the floor? Is that common in the US? I don't think I've ever seen anyone with carpet in any form in the kitchen before.
The black and white checked part is a throw rug. The red and black areas near the counter are padded mats. The putty colored area is the tile floor
Ah tiles. That seems more normal. :)
A friend of mine once had a really bad accident requiring skin grafts because of mats in the kitchen.
It could have had something to do with the hot oil for the chips we were trying to cook in order to calm the midnight munchies too though. It was a long time ago.
I'm not sure it's fair to blame the mats. :)
Maybe not. Luckily for him he was so off his face that he was more amazed at his peeling flesh than how much pain he was in. I was enough off my face not to need to throw up at the sight.
Are those carpet squares on the floor? Is that common in the US? I don't think I've ever seen anyone with carpet in any form in the kitchen before.
I have carpet in my kitchen. So does my mom. And my mom's mom. And my mom's mom's mom before her.
Not really. Just me. My mom used to. It's a thin kitcheny carpet.
My G-son's place has carpet in the kitchen, sun porch, and outside deck and steps.
We are so adverse to carpet in the kitchen we all said it needed to be replaced.
But then said maybe to wait til all the upstairs construction is finished.
So for the past few weeks, Sam has not cleaned up anything that fell on the kitchen floor.
There are bits of food, construction debris including nails and screws, along with fishing tackle including hooks
Shoes are now mandatory.
Sometimes I wonder about him.
It will take "cut-proof" gloves to pull up that carpet when the time comes.
Elayne Boosler's mother: Your kitchen floor needs cleaned! Look at my floor, you could EAT off it.
Elayne Boosler: You can eat off my floor too, there's plenty to eat down there.
(I paraphrase, don't know the exact joke.)
Carpet on the outside deck? How does that work? Doesn't it get moldy in the rain?
Outdoor carpeting.
What planet do y'all be from? Planet AntiCarpetia? ;)
http://www.lowes.com/cd_Install+Indoor-Outdoor+Carpet_199930654_I didn't know they made such a thing!
My last experience with outdoor carpeting was when my alcoholic grandfather picked up some discarded beige carpet from the side of the road on his way home from work one day and them carpeted the back yard with it. (So that he wouldn't have to mow the grass anymore.)

LOL.
just saw this at Target the other day:

That will compliment that cart I got, and hold some food or dishes... not sure which yet. I have a little encyclopedia britanica book case sitting next to my fridge right now. I'll put this in it's place.
There are some really good deals on target's website in the clearance section of the furniture.
I also ordered two of these to go on either side of the tele:

looks tiny, but they are 6' high, 32.5" wide, 18" deep. I'll put the 2nd monitor for the computer on the right, and a lamp on the left... the front surround speakers on the top shelves, and pictures and stuff on the others.
How do they work, lean against the wall like a ladder?
Yup. I assume I will have anchors into the wall and possibly floor.
I knuckled under and bought a new sub woofer. Open box tho... Got a Polk that retails for $250 for $175.
Saturday night, me and the kids and Amanda watched Avatar. Better than the theater, I tells ya.
Went Goodwill trolling today and friday. Got a Calphalon frying pan, a couple clocks, a little cabinet for my spices..... More bowls...a lamp.... I think all I need now is a little dinette table and chairs.

Assembled in less than an hour, thank you.

Theres the bowls, ...and the spice cabinet is on top of the fridge behind the Victory growler.
Isn't it nice making a place your own!
Looks good!
I was curious about that built-in cabinet. I like it and wanted to see a full view of it. So I went back to the start of the thread, and got to see a picture there of it. But then I noticed from one of those early pictures that the refrigerator in a different spot. How huge is your kitchen that you are able to move the refrigerator around to different spots? Every kitchen I've ever had, there was only one spot where you could squeeze a fridge in place.
The fridge had to move cuz they put the dishwasher over in that corner. I never measured, but maybe 10x16? Not quite big enough to put a table and chairs in there.

The leaning desks came today. I can't seem to capture how completely awesome this looks in person. It even matches the shitty tv stand's finish. Pretty easy to assemble too.
@ choco---the grandfather/carpet story made me lol---for reeels.
jim--I LOVE IT! I esp. love that you have a picture of a hot dog AND a banana (I think it's a banana) in your kitchen.
Freud would have a field day with you.
I sincerely love your new place---and I covet that red kitchen thing-y. I covet it BAD.
oops--not a banana but a BANANA looking MOON slice. Same difference.
Freud would have a field day with you Trils!

The truth hurts.

OHHHH, hot dog!
You're so funny (and observant) Tril!
I think it says " come in and ketchup with the greatest "
hmm.. .looking at it, I don't think that's on that sign. I think that's on the Hamburger one. I've got old signs like that all over the walls. I'll snap some shots tonight.
Why are you bouncing about between logins?

I think it was jinx that started collecting these. But when she took what she wanted from the house in Elverson, she left them behind. I rescued them, and gave a couple away.... The kids each picked a couple.... I gave the fire truck one to my brother in law the EMT.... Campbells soup to Amanda, cuz her dad worked for them....But I'm still left with enough to make this kitchen look hip.
Very hip, now how will you make it ironic, grow muttonchops on the side of the fridge?
Ha! Excellent.
My mum has retro coffee shop signs in her house. One of them is a 'Fresh Coffee Served Here' sign and there's another with 'We're Open' hanging from a hook on the doorway into her kitchenette. She also has an antique 'Today's Specials' chalkboard.
I LOVE those signs! really cool. What does the half moon one say?
you're place is really cheery and cool. I LIKE!
I didn't realize how big these pics were coming out. Uploaded with tapatalk...
I wonder if my phone settings or tapatalk setting changed.

If I remember correctly, you can choose the size of your uploads, small, medium, large. See my food pix? They're size medium. I think it's a nice size, big but not too big.
I'm not seeing it in tapatalk's settings. Is that where you meant?
Usually when I go to upload each photo, it'll ask then.
Mine only asks where to host it
Do you put it on "this forum" or Tapatalk?
I choose to upload the pix onto the forum, then it asks what size do I want to post it.
I matched the red from the little cabinet, and painted the spice cabinet.
I'm beginning to wonder about you, you're awfully good at this interior decorating stuff. :eyebrow:
have you installed track lighting yet?
Looks great!
I'm in touch with my inner fagula, that's all.
thilly.

Whirrrrrrr

Much softer lighting

It even has a remote thermostat that turns it on when it gets warmer than the temperature you set it at. And by you, I mean me. Dont touch it.
Oh, and I painted the red part to match the kitchen, too. Actually, I painted two. The first one was missing ALL of the installation hardware, and had the wrong light kit inside. Home Despot swapped it with no receipt like it happens all the time.
I've had pretty good luck on customer service of late. It seems like all the businesses have realized that its an easy way to maintain a relationship with the consumer.
Nice color coordination there !

Took this one this morning...better lighting
