Looks like the Great White'd been beached for a bit - took him/her awhile to re-oxygenate and recover enough to swim against the breakers. Kudos to the guy for persisting.

That's nuts. I've heard that most shark attacks occur in less than 3 feet of water.

And he had to put it back. Minimum size for a great white is 3 metres. ;)
