Blood test results

I thought this deserved its own thread. I had to get blood drawn for tests on Friday. I have a few health issues - the glaring one being my triglycerides were at 200 - normal should be below 149. This was going to warrant another prescription being added to my ever growing list. Luckily, I signed up for the new thing at Labcorp to have a membership to be able to view my results as soon as they are available.

Drumroll, please......my triglycerides are now 129!!!! WOOT! No new pill, more motivation to get my butt out of bed and to the gym.

Bad news - thyroid is still not giving normal result. Adjustment on that one probably, but it's not a new pill, so it's easier to handle.

Don't care - celebrating the good! :D

YAY!! :celebrat:

what did you do to bring your triglyceride number down? I need to get my numbers checked too but I've been too lazy to get an appointment with the doc.

Thanks Clod and Lola :)

Lola - this past month, I have made a total revamp of my life. Cut WAY back on drinking and smoking to the point of almost non-existence. I can count on one hand the times I have done both since 7/24/2012. Those are big factors in triglyceride numbers.

I also really started going to the gym. 5 days I week I am there sweating on the machines and cardio workout. I am doing sparkpeople to track my calories and exercise so that I can stay healthily in the weight loss mode. (I think I eat more now than I did before!!) No starving for this girl.

I had 6 months to change my lifestyle, but I have only done it in the last few weeks. Not sure if that was all that was needed or not. I am guessing yes since it was such a 180 :)

I don't drink, and I only smoke 1 or at most 3 cigarettes a day so cutting back on smoking and drinking won't help me. I guess I need to sweat more then. :p:

BBRO, congrats and good luck on revamping your lifestyle. :thumb:

I really didn't smoke day to day much, but when I got to drinking - look out! I could easily go through a pack easy. Sometimes it wasn't so much. When I wasn't drinking, I could have 1 or 2 a week - if that.
Sweating is always good :D

I don't know which of the changes was the biggest impact, all I know is I can't wait to see my doctor now. She's gonna be so excited :P

Thanks, Lola. I hope it sticks this time!!

Well done bbro.
I need to use you as motivation to do the same myself.

Thanks Sundae - that's sweet. I'll tell you what, though, if it hadn't actually helped my depression, I wouldn't have stuck with it so long. I HATE every minute of getting up early in the morning and the cardio - lol

It also helps that I get a sticker on the calendar for every day I work out :D

Nothing geeky about stickers.
All the best people like stickers. I read it in a manual somewhere.
