A "giant shield bug" (Tessaratomidae). She's on the job protecting herbrood of nymphs!
Habitat: This spotting on a guava (Psidium sp.) tree in a large semi-urban yard/garden next to a disturbed patch of remnant forest.

Pretty dang cool. Good ol' Moms.

Quite a few of them are missing the benefit of her protection.
Then again, they are red-heads. Probably step-children.

(great photo - yours?)

She's just crazy about those kids.

Damned Nymphomaniac!

All that walking makes them out of breath. Then they become panting shields. :-)
