sexobon's age guess reminder thread

Spexxvet • Jun 30, 2012 10:25 am
'Cause we're going to narrow this mutha fucka down and bull's eye his ass. It's all fun and games until Dwellars get serious.;)

So these are the ages he's not, as of 2012. we need a more cohesive strategy if he is going to play again next year.

He's in his 30's, I tell ya ... he'll go to ground and give it up if we focus on the 30's ...
Undertoad • Jun 30, 2012 11:40 am
Well I went back and looked at some of his references, and he made one statement about Rowan and Martin which to me indicates a minimum age of 50.

Your hotness just increased by 200 points with that remark.
orthodoc • Jun 30, 2012 3:54 pm
Only 200? ;)
footfootfoot • Jun 30, 2012 4:28 pm
On a scale of 1 to 10, that's pretty good. ;)
orthodoc • Jun 30, 2012 4:58 pm
In that case I'll take it. :p:
glatt • Jul 2, 2012 10:51 am
A person in their 30s wouldn't have this level of experience.

OK yous mugs, it's that time again, I gives yas one day!

Your mission, should you decide to accept it, is to guess sexobon's age. As usual, the user will own up to the correct guess. This opportunity will self destruct in 24 hours. Good luck Dwellars.

Bringing back the age references I noticed in the last year:

-- he references a bit from "Laugh-In", running 1968-1973. It's a regular bit on the show, but in order to place it in the context of humor in the thread, and have it at the ready in his brain, he would probably have to be at least age 13 during the highest popularity of the show, placing his likely birth in 1957 or previous.

-- he easily whips out the lyrics of a Hamilton, Joe Frank and Reynolds #4 single from 1971, that had absolutely no radio airing after about 1975. This puts him solidly in his fifties, possibly early fifties.

-- this [Mad magazine bit he remembered] is now #2 on g00gle for the first two lines of what sexobon has written. I consumed Mad magazine ravenously as a youngster and I don't recall this. But the #1 g00gle result estimates it as Mad 1966. To be old enough to remember the reference "when I was a kid" means sexobon was probably born between 1951-1958.

-- he still believes that voting is an honor to Democracy, greater than the various ways Democracy has been shat upon by the powers that be. That means he still follows the ideals of the Greatest Generation and so was probably parented by them. He does not contain the cynicism of Gen X and later. He's a Boomer.
Undertoad • Jun 29, 2013 7:54 am
I am guessing 59. This would mean he was born in 1954. 12 when the Mad Magazine bit came out, 17 when the Hamilton, Joe Frank, and Reynolds song came out. In Special Forces but not Vietnam? I'll guess he was going Army photographer because during that period many people were trying to figure out how to serve without becoming cannon fodder. By the time he was trained, he was not needed for combat and only did training missions.

Gee, 58 ... BINGO! :D

IIRC, you were just one year off last year; but, close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. :p:

Of course everyone benefited from UT's powers of deductive reasoning which narrowed the bracket. ;)

Training missions yes; though, probably not as you think of them. Even when there are no declared US conflicts, SF is providing advisors to train foreign indigenous military and paramilitary personnel in a half dozen or more hotspots around the world. Training and evaluating them necessitates being embedded with them during hostilities while maintaining plausible deniability for US involvement even when there are American casualties. You won't hear war stories or see movies made about those interventions. IMHO, it's the best time to be in SF as there are no large scale conventional forces making the inevitable mistakes that undermine carefully cultivated relationships.
Lamplighter • Jun 29, 2013 1:22 pm
Gee, I was off by a factor of 2

I'd have guessed 29
... old enough to know better
... too young to care

But instead, just 2 more years and maturity will set in
and you'll see the error of your ways.

Then 20 more years and everyone will tell you how good you look.

Seriously, Happy Birthday !
Undertoad • Jun 29, 2013 1:42 pm
This was enjoyable! Thanks s-o-b! :D

You're smack-dab in the center of the baby boomers. Were you in fact choosing Army Photographer so you wouldn't be cannon fodder?
orthodoc • Jun 29, 2013 1:57 pm
Happy Birthday, sexobon!

Glad you all had fun with this.

Undertoad;869045 wrote:

I chose photography because it was something I already knew and had an interest in expanding on along the lines of military intelligence applications. I wouldn't have volunteered for consecutive airborne training if I had wanted to play it safe in a regular Signal Corps unit somewhere. Parachutist qualification pretty much consigned me to service in rapid deployment units and being among the first in. OTOH, I wasn't an infantry grunt more likely to be targeted by the grid square I was in. I'd be operating on the periphery; or, at low altitude in the air. Evidently, I preferred being rifle fodder to cannon fodder and to that extent I was choosey.

Hang on, now--the promise was, we guess your age correctly and you'd post a photo of yourself. No take-backsies! Pics or you never happened. :)
sexobon • Jun 29, 2013 10:51 pm
I don't remember it that way; but, short term memory is the first thing to go. In any case, my cuteness is a secret weapon so any photos would be seriously redacted anyway. ;)
Clodfobble • Jun 30, 2013 9:04 am
Dang, you're right. I went back through all your posts about it, but all you ever promised was to "fess up" and admit if/when someone was right.

Pshaw. That's no prize at all. You should, like, at least draw us an awesome trophy in MS Paint and post it.
sexobon • Jun 30, 2013 11:40 am
Considering how long it took, that the person who
did the most detective work missed it by one and
had his thunder stolen, this will have to suffice:

glatt • Jun 30, 2013 3:18 pm
No thunder was stolen. It was a group effort, led by UT and Clodfobble. The rest of us just filled in blanks in the chart.
