This sucks. The RIAA has already announced that they are going to try and bleed money from ISPs since they've decided that up to 75% of people who have broadband share files. Now it appears to me that they're going to pursue criminal prosecution as well, and they're happy to pursue it via a current judicial system that doesn't mind circumventing a few other legalities to let them do it.

Verizon had better start buying judges.

The RIAA already had this one in their pocket, as evidenced by his use of the term "copyright theft" (which is NOT a legal term) in the decision.
