I can't find Ibby's thread right now, but I see some genuine irony in this story.

I see a success... She wasn't clocked at ALL during the pageant.

Of course, she should retain her crown. Legally female is legally female, never mind birth gender. It's only a birth defect, and it seems that no one is willing to accept that. Harelip? No problem. Fix that right up and no one ever questions. But if you accidentally get a shot of T en utero, you are forever questioned and doubted.

Sucks big brass monkey balls, sez I.

(1) I'm opposed to beauty contests in general, but
(2) people who run a contest can make their own rules, I think, and
(3) many beauty contests explicitly ban anyone who has had any kind of cosmetic surgery, even to eg correct a harelip, so
(4) as you say well done for getting as far as she did, but
(5) she isn't eligible for their contest, which
(6) IMHO is grounds for the rest of us to boycott this contest and its sponsors on grounds that WE don't like THEIR rules, except that
(7) this simply generates a huge publicity boost for the whole damn thing.

I'm done.

How's that linear thinking ?
Now just need to tie it back into a loop with...

8) if(Exhausted; Exit;Else;Goto (1))

I read it as "You have an unfair advantage at looking like a hot chica because you started out as a man."

Scroll down to the group photo with the other contestants. Third from the left looks like she didn't even take the hormone treatments before entering the contest.

She slipped in at the last minute. She's like the Rosie Ruiz of beauty pageants!

u r a funny girl

This pisses me off just 'cause it's clearly a purely political distinction, not a contest-worthy one.

I agree. Some of them are so heavily made up it's amazing their faces don't crack when they smile and it gives some of them an unnatural look.

I picked out the same woman that you did. Also, take a look at the tall redhead next to the guy.

If the rules clearly state 'born female', then those are the rules.

Still, her surgeon was a freaking genius. Watching the video clip, her voice is very good. Maybe it's because she looks a bit like her, but I swear she sounds like Lisa Kudrow.

After being rebuked from groups like GLAAD, the Miss Universe Organization will allow Jenna Talackova, a transgender woman, to compete in the Miss Universe Canada pageant.

“The Miss Universe Organization will allow Jenna Talackova to compete in the 2012 Miss Universe Canada pageant provided she meets the legal gender recognition requirements of Canada, and the standards established by other international competitions," according to a statement released by the organization late Monday night.

Right the fuck on. Good call.

Yeah. Like they'll let her win.
But hey.
Baby steps, baby.
